I'm trying to figure out the easiest way for everyone in my family to sign up for GAD. I'm trying to sign up myself, my DH, my son, my mother, and my DH's mother. Our moms do not live with us, but would I be able to include them in when I list the people in our household? Is there a place where addresses are checked at any time- whether when doing the service, or when turning in the voucher?

The service that I am hoping to do is Project Linus through a local chapter. I am waiting for them to contact me. I figure that we can make the blankets, and I can just drop them off when they are done. (Does everyone have to be there when the blankets are dropped off?) My mom lives about 4 hours away from us, but she can mail me her blankets (or mail them to the place if they allow it). My MIL lives near us, but does not have a computer or email address- so she cannot sign up herself. SO, to make it easy, am I able to just list them under the people in my household, and just get the vouchers through my email address??

If they live at a separate residence they need to be signed up separately. Only people who live with you can be listed under your lead name. Some Project Linus groups require that the blankets be dropped off in person (some even require that you make them at a specific place) and some are okay with mailing them in. For those members who don't live with you, you could find a chapter that allow you to mail them in and register them for that Project Linus group. Not everyone needs to be signed up for the same project. Even people in your own household can be signed up for different projects.

Every chapter has their own set of requirements. Some will allow you to mail blankets, some require that you come deliver in person, and a few even require you go to a particular location on a set time to make your blankets. They all also have different requirements for the blankets themselves, and even how many are required per person. Be sure to clarify all details with your local chapter and make sure they'll work for everyone in your group before you commit and get started.

So does anyone know if they addresses are on the vouchers or checked at anytime during the process?

^^^^I'd love to know the answer to this as well.....right now my son lives at home with us...but before we go to disney in october....when we would be redeeming our vouchers he will have moved out...but we don't have an address yet...i did see that passports are a valid form of id and he could use that...but just want to make sure before we all register together

There are no addresses on the vouchers, so I can't see any way of it being a problem. We all signed up (myself, husband and parents) under the same email and address and mailed our blankets in. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! I signed up my ILs with us and was hoping it wouldn't be an issue. :)

I didn't see anywhere that specified that people living at separate addresses had to sign up separately. I signed my sister and me up together. She lives 6 hours away from me. She's mailing her blanket to me and I'm taking them both in. Our local chapter will take mail-ins or drop-offs. I'm just having my sister to mail it to me so that I KNOW that I've turned them in at the same time.

The only identifiable information is your name, and a bar code.

I'd imagine that when Disney scans the barcode, they'll have your address and other general information that was entered when the Lead person registered.
Editing to add that I just checked my account, and I'm not sure that I entered any personal info other than my email address, so I don't think I entered my mailing address, so there may be no way that Disney would have it when they scanned the bar code.

I just checked under my account, and here's what I see in the FAQ (I bolded the pertinent parts):

•You must be at least 18 years of age to sign up, and you may sign up a maximum of 8 additional members of your same household.

And later:
Can I sign up my "group"? (e.g., my family, school, fraternity, office, etc.)

You may only sign up a maximum of 8 additional members of your household. If you would like to volunteer with friends, associates, or family members who are not a part of your household, each such person will have to sign up separately for the same eligible volunteer activity as long as volunteer spaces are available.

I think it's pretty clear that Disney's intent is that an individual account should only have people that live at that same address signed up for it. Why they want it that way - I can't begin to say! :confused3

Now, can you get around that if you want to for some reason? (I guess to save the trouble of someone else setting up an account...) Maybe - I really don't know! I guess we won't know until someone tries it and posts back here. But then, we all know that occasionally CM's will make an exception to the rules for someone, but that doesn't necessarily mean that another CM at another time would make the same exception, so even if someone is able to do it, I personally wouldn't count on it and would just create the other account for family members that don't live with me.

There's really no way they can reasonable enforce this. People move all the time. So they moved since they volunteered....:confused3

In that case, everyone in the household on the voucher would have moved, and I agree that Disney would understand about this and have a process in place to handle that.

But if you show up with 6 people on the same voucher (I believe one voucher would come for everyone under the household that was entered under the leader's account), then you'd have a case where the main family still lived at the same address, but you'd have the 2 Grandmas (in the case of the OP) with 2 other addresses. That would clearly be against Disney's policy of having a separate account for a separate household. I see it as 2 distinctly different situations.

I really don't have anything personally invested in this at all! It just seems pretty clear to me that Disney's intent is for separate households to have separate accounts, and I'd hate to think that anyone starts their trip off with a hassle about redeeming their GAD voucher because they combined people from different households under one account. It seems fairly simple and easy to just create the separate account - even if you get a hotmail email to use for the other family members who may not be very internet savvy. :flower3:

Yes - you are right that going forward it is probably the best for everyone to have separate accounts. In our case and the other poster, I don't forsee of any possible problem. In our case, it is absolutely feasible because my parents did live with us at one point while they were waiting for their new house to be built, and we still live at this same address. So no worries!:goodvibes
