? about school rankings and info

I am wondering if anyone here can help me find a web site that has info on schools in NJ. I live in NJ and I have went to a few sites but I just do not understand them. We are looking to buy a home/town home in area that I do not know much about. I have a 5 year old who is kindergarden now and will finish the year where we are now but I hope she does not have to go back to that school. If anyone here can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

While I don't live in NJ, I have many friends there and know there are many great school districts in the garden state. I'd check the NJ State Dept. Of Education's website, and they should have schools/district's test scores and demographics available. While scores aren't everything, they can give you a starting place. Look at the student to teacher ratio, reading & math scores, and check to see if any schools are Blue Ribbon Schools (by the US Dept. of Education).

The best way to judge a school is to make a visit, see what it's like on an average day. If you can, most schools are open to visits. Also if you know any teachers, ask them what distrcits are stronger than others. And of course ask parents - contact local PTAs for info.

We currently live in Burlington County and we are thinking of buying a place out in East Greenwich Twp which is in Glouster County. I really do not know anything about it. We were looking in Medford but that is very expensive but great schools. My thing is that I do not want to be house poor. I know we are not going to be in NJ forever but we need more room than we have now. I have 2 kids 5 and 2. We live in one very small place. There are new 3 story townhomes going up in East Greenwich that are a very good price. My main concern is the schools. Where we are now, the schools are not up to where I feel as though they should be. Just my opinion.
