We are booked for a 2 bd 8/8 at the Visitana Resort. Did it through RCI(actually my Mom's). Just wondering if anyone else has done this. From what I'm reading there are older and newer buildings there. Any clue as to where I'll be placed.
Sorry I'm so excited for this trip and just want everything to be okay! :thumbsup2

TIA!

RacinMomma,
Vistana places people in certain sections depending on your day of check-in. There are certain bldgs slated for Fri, Sat or Sun check-in. If you let me know your check-in day, I can give you a list of possibilities. I am at Vistana right now....checking out and moving to OKW today. I'll try and check back later but I'll probably be without a room until 4 pm.

Thanks so much for your help. We are to be a Sunday checkin.

Hope you got settled in your new room okay :sunny:

Hi Racinmomma,
Thanks....we checked into OKW around 11 am and our room was ready. We couldn't believe it......it was wonderful to be able to move right in.
As for your room placement. With a Sunday check-in, the oldest section you could be placed in would be the Falls. Considering you have a sleep 8/8, I doubt it, as the Falls is a sleep 6. They have 2 TWIN beds instead of 2 double beds in the second bedroom.
Your other possibilities would be :
Palms (one of the older sections)
Springs (middle in age)
Fountains I
Fountains II (both Fountains are newer than the Springs)
Lakes
Cascades (newest section)
You should not be placed in the oldest Courts section as they are for Saturday check-ins.
Hope this helps. Make sure you fill out the Diamond Lane online request form and ask for Lakes or Cascades (they are the two newest sections). Hopefully you'll get them, but there are no guarentees.
Here's the link : https://www.svosecure.com/starwoodvo/diamond.jsp?resortID=5
Let me know if I can help any further. Have a nice trip !

Racinmomma, I hope you don't mind if I piggyback on your post :)

MiaSRN62, we're staying at Vistana in February with a Friday check-in, also a trade through RCI. We have the 8/6 2 bedroom villa. Any idea which area that would be in?

The Fountains are 8/6. Wouldn't an 8/8 have to be a lockout?
I don't know ? A lockout has a king bed on one side and 2 doubles and a fold out on the other ?
I don't have any of my Vistana info here since I'm on vacation, so I can't look it up. I'll be home on Thurs.

Kes,
You could be placed in any of the sections I listed in my previous post only add the Spas. You would not be placed in the Falls or Courts. YOu have a slightly higher chance of getting a pool front room in some of the sections with a Friday check-in.

JUst got back on sat from Vistana...first week we were in the Cascades which was a huge surprise since we got it through Skyauction and it was the busy season. I liked Cascades it is newer but to tell you the truth the Falls is bigger even though Cascades sleeps 8 and Falls sleeps 6. You really cannot tell where you are going to be. Last year it was 2 weeks at the Falls.

Had the unit directly across from the falls pool it was great. Great view in front and back. If you do get the Courts you have a chance to ask for the falls and usually get it. We were scheduled for the Courts and I told them I did not want to be on the first floor for security reasons so could I please be in the falls and they accomodated me.

Hey Goddess of Vistana Information ...hope you are having a good time. I wanted to stay and never return. Looked for you at Vistana but we were there so seldom that it was like a needle in a haystack.

Sorry, just had to pop in and say "HI" to the Vistana Goddess! :teeth: How are you doing, Maria? Hope your vacation is going well, sounds like it is.
I'm going to miss Vistana like crazy next week....we will be in POR. Oh, help us! :rotfl2: :crowded:

As far as the 8/8 or 8/6 goes..........I don't really get it. We were in a two bedroom in the Lakes section (LOVE that section, by the way) and on Skyauction it was listed as 8/8. We had a king, two doubles and a SS, no lockout.

Come to think of it, how can any of them be an 8/8? Isn't the first number suppossed to be how many it sleeps total, and the second number how many it sleeps "privately" (meaning in acutual bedrooms, not sleeper sofas)??

So if it had an 8/8, wouldn't it have to have 4 doubles, 2 in each bedroom?

I guess I'm confused? Not a shocker! :rotfl:

Hi Pamela and Bella !
We did have a nice time, thanks :cool1:
We just got back this morning and I'm missing the "vacation mode" we were in ! Sorry we missed eachother Bella. Hope u all had a great time ! I was in the Fountains II. We hung out there in our room and at the Fountains pool in the heat of the afternoon. We tried to get to the parks as soon as they opened and then leave by noon'ish. Then returned around 6 pm.
We ended our trip at OKW and noticed how much more crowded (translate: PACKED) WDW was becoming. The parks were nuts by 11 am ! I suspect the FREE dining promo had something to do with this. That started on Aug 13th I believe.

Right....this is how I understood it as well Bella.
So, as for the 8/6 issue....I'm still not 100% sure on that ? Even the literature I have states the Lakes is 8/6 and they have lockouts. I guess I'd have to call Vistana directly and ask about this.
Have a wonderful stay at POR Bella ! We visited that resort last week for dinner. The carriage rides are a nice addition to that resort.

Welcome home, Maria.

Oh, we've never done the carriage rides. That would be fun. Maybe I'll have to check into that. Did you have dinner at Boatrights?

Oh, boy. I was afraid that would happen with the crowds. We get there Monday and are there for 10 nights. Uhh-Ooh! Oh, well. We're at Disney, right?? :teeth:

OT........sorry about the typo.........I can spell the word, ACTUAL.......see? :teeth: I know you Spelling Nazis were worried. :duck:

Pamela....are you on the free dining ?
Yes, we did have dinner at Boatwrights. I like this restaurant because it's usually quiet and not crowded. We walked right in with no ressies and sat right down. This was about 5 pm.
WDW had a major electrical outtage this week. We were subscribed to the high speed internet at OKW and couldn't sign on Tuesday around noon. It continued throughout the night. Since I was paying $9.95 per 24 hour period I called to see what the problem was because I kept getting error messages. The tech guy told me it was a major property-wide problem and they were "feverishly" working on it. I was refunded my last 24 hour period fee by OKW. But we couldn't get our boarding passes printed out....had to drive down to the Kinkos to check-in and print the passes. Heard lots of people trying to make PS for restaurants in the OKW lobby. Concierge was apologizing and telling the guests that the computer system was completely paralyzed. I can't even imagine what a headache this had to be for WDW and the guests considering this was "free dining" promo time. OKW concierge were directing guests to go to the restaurants of their choice and see if they could get a seating. What a hassle this had to be for many. Luckily this all hit 2 days before we left and wasn't like that for our entire stay. I'm hoping it's been fixed. It wasn't when we left.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Bella....yeah, that is me.

You are so funny! And I totally agree with you. Don't get me wrong, I love POR. This will be our third stay. And we've never had any problems. But the only thing POR has that Vistana doesn't is that it is on-site, and we drive down, so we really don't see the huge advantage anymore, but that's just us.

I mean, how can you compare two bedrooms, king bed, two doubles, a jacuzzi in your room, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, seven pools, three tv's, two bathrooms.........with one room at POR!

But, none the less, I guess we figured free cheese soup and filet mignon at Le cellier could capture our attention!! :lmao: :lmao: What can I say? I'm a foodie!

I'm glad you had a great vacation, bella. Two weeks at Vistana sounds wonderful. Welcome home!

You're cracking me up Bella ! But I'm with you.....I'd stay at POR to go back. I actually think the resort is very pretty and relaxing.
The kids just asked me what is for dinner and I'm not quite ready to begin cooking again ! I told them we'll order out ! I cannot get out of vacation mode......I'm in the "back-at-home-slumps" :surfweb:

See like the rest of us MiaSRN62 is an average citizen for 50 weeks of the year and only in the summer does she TRANSFORM to the Goddess. So she has to work and cook and clean. Kind of like a SUPER CINDERELLA. Of course to be elevated to Goddess status you must be the one everyone turns to to find info about a particular place or have a particular skill related to Disney. Sorry MSBbD...you have some big slippers to fill! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
