so we leave in 4 weeks for the wedding :cool1:

my mom called today and told me my dad would like for us to fly(we were planning on driving down...i HATE flying and with the nerves of the wedding i think i may be a wreck).
IF we choose to fly...we would be traveling with SOUTHWEST AIRLINES...how do i go about bringing the dress on the plane with me? do they have a closet? can i hold it? what about the over-head compartment? I NEED HELP!!!!

flying will be MUCH cheaper than driving since the gas prices are crazy.
and we'd be there in 2 hrs rather than 18 hrs.

THANKS!!!!!

Getting nervous? I know I am, and I still have 51 days to go! :Pinkbounc

We are flying on Song, and I asked them about my dress. They do not have a closet, and said I would have to check my dress with the luggage (THAT ain't happening!) or buy a seat for it (No, thanks anyway.)

Then someone here suggetsed I call Carolyn's. You can ship your dress to them and they will hold it then bring it to your room and steam it. I can find the link if you want. That way you don't have to worry about it at all. I think it's a fabulous idea!

You should have no problems putting your dress in the overhead compartment. That's how my dress got home, and I know many brides have brought their dress to Disney by putting it in the overhead compartment. Just make sure that you guard the compartment so that other travels don't try to shove their luggage on your dress!

On our trip down we were on a regular Delta plane and they put it in a closet (I called Delta in advance to check on this). On the way home we were on a Song plane and they put it in the compartment where they store the blankets, pillows and their personal bags. I wasn't as worried on the way home about it getting crushed.

I was thinking about sticking mine in a hard sided case as it's quite big and trusting it to the hold - but my bridal assistant - or whatever you call the woman who sells you your dress - said it would fit in one of those air hostess cases, so I can take it on as hand luggage and guard it on the flight :0) My skirt is crumpled anyway but she said if I hung it in the bathroom and ran the shower the steam would knock the creases out.

I reclon its worth a try - we're flying from the UK so the case is at risk of being opened by officials when it hits US soil, and I don't want to keep it in a bag as my DH2B may peek.

I figure if it gets crumpled and the shower doesn't work i have 10 days to get it to carolyn Allens :0)
