Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere...:confused3
Can someone please explain how the package delivery works from parks/dtd to POR. Is there a charge for this service? How long does it take to get your items? Is it left in your room or do you pick up in gift shop? We have never used this service before and would like any info you can offer!:surfweb:

Basically, you ask for the item you are buying to be delivered to your resort and fill out a paper with your name, addy and resort, room number. It generally takes one day for most items and you pick them up at the general store (Fultons), there is a package pick up counter where you sign for the package. there is no charge for this service. We used it for many items during our stay last week.

I will add that for expensive/fragile/bulky items, it may pay to have the item shipped home instead of back to the resort. Also very simple to do, you just fill out the paperwork when you buy it. We did this with a Lenox Pooh Christmas tree centerpiece we bought, it will take up to 10 business days to receive it. You don't have to pay sales tax on the item, but you will pay UPS ground charges. The reason it's a good idea is that your item is guaranteed to make it home safely if it is shipped. (they will replace it if damaged) If you take it home ourself and it is damaged in your luggage somehow, you are out of luck.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

OMG!!!:cheer2: I can't believe we have never used this! Thanks soooo much for your reply:flower3:
Also, thanks for the tip on fragile items DW loves precious moments and WDW has exclusives that can only be bought there. Also, this will help with Christmas surprises.:santa: This also works for DTD? And FREE!?:woohoo:

If you're shipping gifts home, there is a charge. I shipped a couple of boxes of stuff, total less than $40.00 each box. The charge was $9.95/box. (Charge can vary on $$$ of items). I mail boxes frequently, and to me, this was a great deal. I was able to send one to us, and one to another family member. Very convenient!

right...if you ship it home you do not pay sales taxes but do pay shipping...
I just can't believe all the times that DW has had me carrying all those packages from DTD  when we could of sent them back to our resort. At no extra charge!pixiedust:
Now this works for only parks and DTD.
But not for gift shops at other resorts correct? As far as buying something at one resort and sending it to your resort.

Also you can buy something in the park and have them hold it for you. We got some stuff last year at the Studios (trying to get used to not saying MGM anymore)...and they moved it from the gift shop to a spot right near the entrance. We just picked up our bags on the way out.

I have bought many fragile items without shipping home and they have done fine. I purchased 2 snowglobes this year and since you can't put those in your carryon they gave them to me in their original boxes which contained the foam and I just wrapped them in a towel. Even if something doesn't have a box just request one. Wait until you see how they wrap a fragile item that gets shipped to your resort! There is so much paper wrapped around it that you can't find the item you bought:rotfl2: . They even provide you with a box. They do a great job in sending the items to the resort.

Just allow at least 24 hours for it to get there. To play it safe, don't purchase items for shipping to your room the day before your departure just in case it doesn't get there on time.

That is correct. You can't buy something at one resort's gift shop and have it sent to your resort. It only works with purchases you make at the parks and DTD.
