Okay, new ? My DH is in computers for his job. Can he bring his own Lap top or is it better for him to use the ones there. I'm trying to get work to pay for him to log on and just check email. If not he'll come home to about 1,000. (no kidding) Anyway this way we can all talk with people at home and have work pay for us. I'll email LIVE from the Magic.

Thanks for all the help!!

There is no place for a laptop to plug in to Disney's Internet Cafe. Your only option is dialup on ship to shore iwhich is VERY cost prohibitive.

The cafe machines also will do web based email clients only, no outlook. With the exception of AOL which is native client on all machines. Web based Terminal Server will not work either.

DH uses Lotus Notes for work, with a VPN Client. Will this work. More important can I get on to just say hello to friends and family?
Thanks for all your help!!

I too use LotusNotes for work and you can not access it through the ship's computers.

As was pointed out earlier, you can not access the internet with a personal laptop. You can only use the stations onboard the ship.

Maybe someday DCL will make this available (for a price I am sure).

How then do people post live from their cruise?

Or how can he log into work so he can keep an eye on things? Is this the first time in 24 years that he won't be able to get them and visa versa?

My husband logs into his email from the ship using their internet cafe and checks his email every day and dumps all junk mail. It is possible. He paid the unlimited use amount and I don't know if that is still offered. He even checked it from internet cafes on the islands before the ship had an internet cafe of it's own. He uses Outlook Web access. He told me any POP account can be accessed through a Yahoo account or similar account. It can be done. We own our own business and yes, he could also come home to over a 1000 emails if not more if he didn't check it everyday. He has also conducted business while in the middle of the ocean. I was so happy DCL added the internet cafes because it allowed us to take cruise vacations while still having contact with our company. And no, we do not use our cruise as a tax deduction because he has done business while on the ship--it just allows us to keep our company going while we are away :). Just have your husband talk to a computer person to get it all figured out before your trip. Kathy

I checked my hotmail account while onboard and could have checked my work also since I can access my work through their e-mail site. So the e-mail has to be accessable through an internet website.

Thank You so much for all your help. I think my DH will have to look into all this. Did you say to talk to the person onboard or before we leave. DH thinks I'm crazy and it would be no problem for him to check on things, but when we were away in Hawaii things didn't work as well as he thought and he did come home to alot of emails. Stayed on the computer for hours the day we came home. I just thought if he could check even for 1 hour every couple of days it would help him in the long run.

Again, Thanks:wave2:

Have you husband speak to someone in his IT Department to see if they have internet access for Lotus Notes. We run Lotus Notes at work & can access our email from a web-browser.

Michelle:

You will be able to have access to your email via Comcast's website as long as you know your password. Go to www.comcast.net click on email and give it a test run before you go. You can also access email accounts other than Yahoo's via Yahoo mail. You need the pop server and your account's password to set it up but once it's set up it is very easy to use while on the ship. Remember while on the ship to log out of anything that you've logged into while using their terminals.
