I JUST (as in just this minute) finished 19 Minutes. I loved the book, but I absolutely hated the ending. I had to read, and re-read it several times to see if it was saying what it was really saying. The entire book was so believable (in an utterly heart-breaking way) and rang so true, but Josie shooting Matt is so unbelievable it almost ruined the book for me. If she was in terror, there's no way she'd think to grab a gun, mimic Peter's movements with his fingers, and then turn the gun on the person who was trying to protect her. She was truly in love with him, jerk or not, and it's not like he was repeatedly battering her. KWIM? If they were going to go the angle of "battered woman syndrome" I'd think she would play up the aggressiveness with Matt a lot more. I didn't like that ending one single bit. Just my humble opinion though.
I do love Jodi Picoult, and her books are always so thought-provoking. I got Harvesting the Heart for Christmas. Parts of it were so very painful to read, especially as a Mom. I'd love to read My Sister's Keeper, but my library is almost always out of J.P's books and I'm too much of a cheapskate to buy one, lol.
I enjoy reading others' perspectives on books I read. I saw this thread before but I had to stay away because I wasn't done reading it yet!
