I don't want to get in trouble by posting a no-no, so before I ask my question, I'll ask if it's ok to ask......

I want to purchase a few pins from "someone" on ebay and wanted to first find out if others had used him/her. They are out of the country, but the only one that has what I want....feed back is 99% with over 5,000 feedback. The neutrals seem to be that the pins were good but shipping slow....and I keep thinking, yeah, it's from another country! The negs aren't quite so nice...6 in the last year claiming pin quality poor, non-tradeable...pretty bad stuff. But 6 in 12 months, and 5,000 feedback....that's a very small percentage right? And of course there are always a few crackpots out there bidding and then complaining.

So...is it ok to list a ebay ID here and get some feedback? I have grown to trust those on DIS, even though I don't know them any better than I know the ebay bidders, lol. Crazy, but so am I.

Thanks!

You might contact the seller directly and ask if they are "Sedesma" or "Propins".

Technically both are tradeable at WDW as they are metal pins and do show they are copyright Disney. HOWEVER... most people will not rade for them and many CMs are unhappy to trade for them and may even say they are not tradeable.

Propins are from a German company and the quality is much lower than the pins which Disney sells.

Sedesma are made in Spain and they are even lower quality than Propins.

If the response is that they are Sedesma or Propins then you have been warned. If there is no response I would think that the person is unwilling to lie (since you could do a chargeback) and they are one of those brands.

If you are told that they are not either of those save the correspondence in case you find that they are when finally received.

THanks! Very helpful information. I already knew about Sedesma and to avoid those, the listing specifically say no Sedesma, so that's cool. I'm not familiar with Propins and it doesn't say anything for or against them. They actually list the PinPic #s for a great deal of what they sell....does that automatically make them good or does PinPics list "bad" pins? They name some of them "Europins" is this something else too?

Wow...I knew there would be a lot to learn about this pin trading, but I didn't realize there were so many variables.....I thought Sedesma were the only to watch out for but apparently not! I'm buying to collect for personal use and also to get some bulk buys to have some traders for the girls. We did this on a very small scale at Disneyland two years ago, but want to up the anty for WDW because it's so much larger a park(s) and we'll be there several weeks.

Thanks so much for all the great information....any more help you can provide would be appreciated or sending me to some links to learn more about the good, the bad and the ugly. Thanks!
