? about fax machines

I am sitting here at work, and have had a fax machine call our phone number a dozen times.

I think I remember hearing that if you pressed something on your phone, that the fax machine would stop calling. Does anyone know what I am taking about?

I haven't heard that before but would be interest to know. It gets awfully annoying for the phone to ring 10 times in a row and it be a fax that is just redialing and redialing.

I have never heard that. But I also would like to know if it is true and what the heck you can do to stop it.

I'd be interested as well. I usually just yell, "THIS IS NOT A FAX MACHINE!!" into the phone. I actually had someone call and thank me for doing that because they were sitting by the machine and heard me yell that, and realized it was the wrong number.

Well, it called 2 more times. I just started hitting buttons.

It hasn't called again, but I think it just might have timed out or something.

When that happens in our office I just transfer the call to the fax machine.

Well, it called again.

I would transfer the call, but our fax number is a completly seperate line from our phones.

I do have to say that the faxer is sure persistant!

Same here...provided your phone system has transfer capabilities.
