We are arriving into MCO at 3:30PM, picking up a rental car and heading to our hotel. We have 7:20PM ressies at 1900 Park Fare to "kickoff" our trip. We will not be doing any parks that evening, although we will probably walk around the GF, and maybe go check out some other resorts that we have never seen.

My dd (almost 3) will be wearing her Cinderella dress to dinner (could she POSSIBLY wear anything else?), and I would like to get some photos of us in "nice" clothes at this dinner, as we are not going anywhere else "semi-fancy" when we will not also be at the parks (i.e. tennies and comfortable clothes). I was thinking of having DH and myself "dress-up" for this dinner, so we can get some great pics (maybe even put them in Christmas cards). But, we have never done this dinner before...will we be TOO dressed up for this if I come in a black velvet dress, and DH in a shirt and tie? I don't want to feel silly.

TIA,

Hi Beca! We did this dinner last december and we are also going dec 6th. We wore casual clothes and I don't remember anyone being dressed up. But I think you will look classy not silly :flower:

I think my DD wants to dress up as Snow white this time princess:

Lexiefern...Thanks!!!! I really would like to dress up ONCE at WDW...I hope we are not too overdressed!!

We are getting SOOO close!!!! Yea!!!

The shirt and tie won't look too out of place. You'll probably be the only one in a velvet dress though.

I wouldn't worry about it though. People there are focused on the food and the characters. The two of you will fit in fine in the GF lobby before/after dinner. You'll probably see a number of people more nicely dressed in the lobby (dining at Citricos, V&A).

1900 Park Fare is not the place for nice clothes. The tables are very close together, the buffet is laid out poorly and you are likely to get food on your clothes!

I hate to put a damper on things but, have you eaten here before? If you go just for the opportunity for your lil princess to meet Cindy and get nice pics then that's OK. Please don't go there thinking you will have a wonderful meal, you will be dissappointed! We were just there and the food is just OK. The restaurant tables are close together, the buffet area isn't laid out well, the food doesn't offer too much variety. The server we had we couldn't find most of the time. The characters are not organized like at other meals we have been to. Suzy mouse kept coming back and we had a heck of a time trying to let her know she saw us already without DD catching on!

We saw almost every little girl wearing a costume. Most people wore regular casual clothing, jeans and t-shirts. I think a shirt and tie/jacket is too much, but if you want to get pics taken then dress up! Do you have someone to take a family photo of you?

Personally we have given 1900 park fare enough chances and have always been dissappointed! We will not go back. I hope you have a better experience.

Desnik - Thanks for the thoughts....and, you are NOT putting a damper on things at all. I honestly could care less about the food (I don't need to eat, anyway...I should be on a diet!!)...it's ALL about my DD!!

When I called to confirm all my PS's with Disney Dining the other day, the CM on the phone busted out laughing..we have one character dinner, three character breakfasts, tea with Aurora, ice cream with Mickey, the candlelight processional, and the sleigh ride. The CM commented that it was nice that we had the candlelight processional, or we would have NO ps's for grown-ups! I had to explain...my dd turns three right after we get home...this is our last opportunity to take her for "free"...we are DEFINITELY taking advantage of that fact!!

Anyway...all I am looking for is:
1) a way to start of the trip that she will think is "magical"
2) a chance to meet the characters without having to stand in line (something I would GLADLY pay for anytime)
3) a good photo opportunity in the GF. I was thinking of asking a CM or other guest to take a pic of us in the lobby (or, also at the WL..where we will be staying) to maybe use on Christmas cards.

If the above three are accomplished..I will be THRILLED!! Mediocre food is NO problem!!

Thanks,

Glad to hear that Beca!

We were just at the WL and the X-mas decorations were all up. It looks so beautiful, probably my fav with the GF a close second! Your DD will love meeting Cindy, and prince charming! The FGM is sometimes out in the hall before the restaurant entrance, she alternates with Minnie.

I know what you mean by paying not to have to wait in line and taking advantage while your DD is 3yo! DD went 4 times before her 3rd bday! We also did the princess breakfast with Aurora last year and only my DD eats breakfast! It was worth it for her to meet her fav princess.

Have a great time!

I'm shocked to see the negative comments on the food. The food there usually gets the best reviews of any character meal. I know when we ate there in 2001 (villian dinner then) the food was amazing. Not the best for picky adults because it was a bit more upscale/exotic food. For us it was great.

While it's not the best food in The World, the food at 1900 PF is for sure the best character meal food there.

As far as the velvet dress, I also agree with the poster who said that it's not the best venue for that.

Do you have something a little less dressy? Maybe a dress in a less dressy fabric? If it were me I'd wear something a little toned down. Other than on a major holiday, I don't think I'd wear velvet anywhere at WDW except V&A's.
