I've not worn earrings in my 2nd pierced ear hole in about 8 years. Can you believe they have never closed up? Shouldn't they by now?

I accidently put my regular earrings in the upper one and I soon realized that they never closed.

I didn't wear ANY pierced earrings for many, many years. I started wearing them again last year, and still have the holes. I've had no problem with them.

Mine closed up after about 5 years. I almost never wear earrings in my first holes (probably wear earrings once or twice a year) and they never closed up. I figure it's because I've had them so long. ;) My third holes took no time at all to close up.

yeah - my mom's second holes are still open, and she never wears earrings in them.

I find the higher up the ear you go - the faster they will close up sometimes. I have 9 holes in my right year...used to have 10...4th from the top...lost and earring and it closed up pretty quick

Yup. I only wear earrings in my first hole now and the second has still not closed and it has to be over 10 years...weird

I've gone years without using my second and third holes, and they remain open too. I thought they'd close up, but I guess they won't be!

I had my ears pierced when I was about 8 and they got infected after about a year. I thought they had closed up and had them pierced again about 2 years later. It has been almost 30 years from the 1st time and the original holes are still open. I sometimes accidentally put the earring in the wrong one.

I haven't worn earrings in my second holes for over 10 years. They haven't closed up either. They are much less noticeable than they used to be, but you can still see them. I remember after I got them done (I had just turned 18). My dad was really mad that I did it and told me I'd regret that I double-peirced them someday. And, of course, he was right!!

Now I'm quite the opposite. I have three holes in each year, and all of them will start to close up pretty quickly if I leave an earring out of them. I don't know if they would close up completley, but after about two weeks, skin starts to grow over the back and it hurts a lot to put an earring back through it.

Mine are double-pierced, and I can only wear real gold earrings in them to this day. My first was pierced almost 27 years ago, the second about 20 years ago. They are just very sensitive. I've tried different earrings just for a night out, and by the time I get home, they're all itchy and red.

I broke my last pair of real gold earrings about 2 weeks ago. So, I haven't been wearing anything since then. Last night, I tried to put in a pair of cheaper ones - I never learn  - but I just wanted to wear earrings for the night - and both holes were almost closed up - after just two weeks. I still got the earrings in after pushing a little - and yes, by the end of the night, I was regretting it. Luckily, I know there's a pair of gold diamond earrings under the tree for me!! :D

I only wear earrings occasionally in the bottom. The other two are still there...haven't closed up. It's probably been about ten years since I've had earrings in the top two holes.

Haven't worn pierced earrings in 10 years and the holes are still open..

Just what I need - a few more holes in my head.............. LOL

My second holes grew over about 2 days after stopped wearing earrings in them. Got them re-pierced last week though.

I had my second holes done when I was about 15. Kept earrings in them for a whole year. Took them out and tried to put them back in a few days later but they had completely closed up. :( Flash ahead 10 years later, I was in a rush and was trying to put my earrings in without a mirror. I realized I had put one in the second hole. I then tried the other ear and it went right in! Now I wear earrings in both. I think I read that your skin thins as you get older. Dunno?

Funny post! SSB was doing search on earring posts, as remembered one about how long to initially wait before changing (DD just had done a while).

I too am full of holes....luckily the one in my nose closed up along time ago. I must have about 6 holes in each ear that are still open. What was I thinking?

Yes, double piercings are nice. Even women in their 40s and 50s who have had singles for 30 years or so are discovering the double piercing of ears.

It's a nice custom.
