We are currently staying at Pop Century until the 1st! We flew here and do not have a rental car. I was curious about the Disney outlets that are near here. Are they worth taking a taxi to get to? Where are they located? What is the best way to get there? Do they have the same items as the parks/Downtown Disney?

Thanks for any and all advice!

I am a big fan of the outlet but I would not take a taxi there. If that is the only store you want to go in, any savings may be eaten up by the taxi fare. There are times that you will find the same item in Disney as the outlet & they are the same price.. this doesn't happen all the time, but does happen. If you are a passholder, you would get your discount from Disney, but not in the outlet so it comes out even cheaper.. again, that doesn't happen all the time.

They're hit and miss. I have found great things there sometimes and sometimes not. I probably wouldn't get a taxi just for that, if I were you. If you do, you would have to think of the fare like a lottery ticket- maybe a waste, possibly a huge payoff.

I like to visit each time we go, First time we took a taxi, second time we rode the bus, (there is a bus that goes right to there from downtown) and the third time we stayed at nick before the cruise and so we drove to them. I have to say we got some really nice stuff at Walgreen's cheap. Towels were $7. We got Potc, Tink, Mickey. Bought the boys new Boxers for $4-6. Shot glasses (same one I had bought at Disney but for only $4) Key chains $4. instead of $8. I thought it was better than going to the outlet. But the Most fun was at walmart. They had so much Disney stuff I couldn't believe it. Shirts $6, Lots of nice ones, Key chains, Hats like the green Kermit the frog for $10. I would definitely go to walmart if I ever went to another theme park again. Way cheaper, may not be from Disney property but nice stuff. The only stuff we bought when we stayed on sight last time was more dishes, salt and pepper shakers, casserole dishes that sort of stuff and I didn't even look at walmart for it.

Mexico-- We went in March this year and I bought a lot of Disney stuff at walmart there. Mettle bowel sets with mickey parts on them. 4 bowels to a set with lids and they where $4 a set. Then frying pans with designs in them, mickey, tink, ect for $7. My best friend laughed at me when I brought her some home as suvies. She said Only me. lol

We went with some friends who live there so they drove. But if you googled it and got a number of any walmart (in kissimmee) and then call them and ask which one is closest to DTD They could tell you and how far it is.

There is one on SR 535 which you can get to from Disney very easy via Osceola Parkway.. then south on SR 535, Wal-Mart will be on your right
.
There is one on Turkey Lake Road that you can get to via Down Town Disney area. Go to the CrossRoads on Hotel Plaza Blvd & SR 535. Head north on SR535, and hang a right at the light where Olive Garden is. That is Palm Parkway. Palm Parkway turns into Turkey Lake.. Wal-Mart is on your left.

I have heard that there is on on 192 West of I-4, but I have never been to that one.

If you are wondering about which is closer, the outlets would be closer.. then the Wal-mart on Turkey Lake would be your closest Wal-Mart to DTD.
