I have stayed at the Poly (many times) and AKL, but never stayed Concierge.
I am a DVC member, but I will go through severe spasms if I don't get my annual Poly fix.
My question: Can anyone tell me exactly what the extras are with Concierge level vs standard? Do you feel it is worth the extra loot? Is there any difference in AKL vs Poly Concierge?

THANX in advance

We haven't stayed at the AKL at all (hope to try it some day for a couple nights in cooler weather), but we've stayed at the Poly many times like you. Two of these trips were concierge. I don't think it is worth anything close to $100/night but at $30-50 (at AP rates) it can be a nice treat. They offer a continental breakfast as well as snacks, juice, water and pop during the day. Early evening brings appetizers and wine. Later in the evening little desserts are offered along with wine or cordials. Coffee and tea are out starting at 6:30 which is very nice. The staff in the lounge is very friendly and most of the staff in the first floor greeting area is friendly and helpful. Just don't say aloha to Luciano...I did and if looks could kill:o ...followed by a very cold hello.

I don't know how large your family is but we've not stayed there when all five of us were there. Hawaii is one of the older longhouses and so the rooms while spacious are smaller than the newer buildings as you know. With our older family, I like the extre space more than the goodies.

I disagree with BVC23, I think that the concierge is worth the extra cost, at least for our family of 4. If you figure what you spend on breakfast, snacks and drinks, plus desserts and even a couple of evening meals, it was worth the extra cost.

We ate most of our bigger meals at lunchtime at the parks and came back to a light meal at the Concierge lounge most nights during our week stay in May. It was wonderful to come back from a long day at the parks and sit by the pool and eat (we would get a tray from the lounge). They also have great desserts and wine and cordials. We loved it and will do it again when we go back in 2 years.

We just tried our first conceirge stay the last week in June at Polynesian. We brought our nephew on this trip, so thought this was definitely the right trip to try conceirge since we'd have 5. It worked great for this trip, but we'll never do it again.

Until this trip, we never realize how important our meals out are. We just missed our b-fasts out too much. Mostly we do MK bakery, and once or twice Kona Cafe for Tonga Toast. These are small traditions that mean a lot to us, but we felt too guilty spending the extra money when we had free b-fast at conceirge. As far as dinner, it caused problems b/c only a few of us would like the offerings each night and fill up, then the rest of the group was left to decide what to do for dinner. We'd end up going to a restaurant and only 2 or 3 eating. That made us feel guilty taking up the extra space at the tables and the kids that already ate got very antsy wanting to leave, so no one could enjoy their meal.

We paid an extra $100/night and probably got our money's worth with all the cookies, sodas and snacks our nephew ate. I can definitely see how others would find it great. It was great to have the lounge to get away too and the b-fast really helped to speed up our mornings.

We have done concierge at AKL and BW (not the poly, sorry). It was very nice at BW, but at AKL it was spectacular.

The people are wonderful, the morning/day snacks were good, love the smoothie in the afternoon for a pick me up. The evening appetizers are made downstairs at Jiko and Boma then brought up..great assortment, the late evening cordials and desert are great as well.

You also get surprise gifts through out your stay...nice gifts.

We paid almost an extra $100 per night, and we would do it again in a heartbeat.

I have a question about concierge, too! :)

How far in advance should/can I contact AKL Concierge to ask questions?

How do I reach them?

Thanks to all the Disers out there!!
