I got one on Wednesday. I have copper bottomed pots, Revere Ware. Put the cleaner on it Wednesday before I cooked and it did fine. Cleaned the top again after cooking. Well last night and tonight both it has taken DH and me both cleaning for 30 minutes to get all the spots off of it. We can see nothing on the bottoms of our pots, nothing has boiled over, but it is been getting black spots and or streaks on the eye part beneath the pots. Tommorow I am buying some copper cleaner to clean the bottoms of the pots better, but I just wondered if anyone else has ever had this problem. If they do this everytime I don't know if I am going to like a smooth top or not. I even wondered if I needed to buy new cookware. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Boots, are you sure you are getting all the cleaner off the cooktop before you cook? After I clean my cook top I get a paper towel and some Windex to make sure it's all off. Just a thought.

I have had a smooth top for years and I have not had that problem. I also use revere ware pans. Are you using Ceramabrite to clean your stove top? Are you rinsing it off very well? Is the stove cold when you clean it? Have you tried using your razor blade to get the spots off? That's all I can think of for now. They really are great stoves but they do take some getting used-to.

I've had my smooth top stove for 6 years. Never had a spot, and I've had TONS of stuff boil over.

I only use the cleaner 1x every 6-7 days. I use the dishcloth every night and during cooking etc. When I use the cleaner, I put it on as if it's a car wax....it forms a haze, then I buff it off with a clean paper towel....I then use either the dish cloth or wet paper towel and wipe it, then the lastly dry paper towel.

I dont use copper bottom pans though, I have Pampered Chef Professional pot/pans...

Brandy

I loved my cooktop (I have gas now). I remember using the blade fairly often (always amazed me that I never scratched it with the blade!) I too, would buff it after using the special cleaner....not sure what your problem might be.

Are you sure you can use the copper bottoms? I know you cannot use glass or cast iron.

I must confess I did buy new pots when we moved into our home with the brand new cooktop.

If the bottoms of your pots are old or have stuff on it it will transfer. Clean the bottoms of your pots really well.

To clean you use the blade for the stubborn stains and finish with the cleaner.

I was told no glass, cast iron or copper bottom for mine. I use the cleaner 1x a week and in between windex, I also use the rubber scraper from my pampered chef bakeware to get off the icky's.

I have wanted to get one of these stove tops for so long because they looked as if they would be easier to clean than traditional stoves. Now I'm not so sure!!

I got rid of my revere ware because the smooth top is way too hot for the copper bottoms. They would warp up and have only one small spot in the center that would touch the burner. I use a set a very heavy bottomed stainless steel pots and pans (Bella Cuisine). As far as cleaning, I uses cerambright, or barkeepers friend, or pfaltzgraph ceramic cleaner every once in a while to polish it. Everyday I use 409 and DH uses windex, but that doesn't cut the grease like 409. I would prefer cooking on gas, but after 7 years, I have gotten used to the smooth top. Next week, I go back to standard electric, YUK!
