I've posted this also in the restaurants forum, btw.:)

I've got two questions about the kids' VKL vouchers. If they kid's menu doesn't have an appetizer or dessert listed, do the kids order from the adult menu?
Also, are the same restaurants covered for the kids' vouchers that are covered for the adults' vouchers?
Thanks up front
Kim

Oops, one more question. I noticed that on the Hotwire site, they said the childs' vouchers covered kids from ages 3-9. My son is ten. Will he have a problem using them?

In regards to the 3-9 age question, I guess that depends on how you feel about being honest and the example you want to set. To each his own.

I though children's dining at WDW was 3-11. I though I even read here that the 3-9 was in error and they were definately for 3-11. Is that not correct?

Last year when we went to Disney we were able to order off of the adult menu at the Rainforest Cafe for my son. That includes an adult appitizer and and adult meal. (for this trip our party of 4 two adults and two kids are ordering one adult voucher and one kids voucher and splitting it)

However, at LeCellier we were not allowed to order an appitizer for my son because technically there is no such thing as a childs appitizer. So basically he got a entree from the childs menu, dessert from the childs menu and a drink. We really didnt save anything there. But others have said that they were allowed to order an appitizer. I think it might depends on the server.

Hope that it helps you!

Children's vouchers are for up to age 11. The hotwire site left the ages the same as the ticket purchase ages so as not to cause any confusion with needing an adult ticket for admission to the parks.

We used the child voucher to get the adult appetizer and dessert at Alfredo's in Italy at Epcot for my daughter (with the child entree.)

If they don't offer an appetizer for the children you should be able to get the adult appetizer, and our server said you can always get an adult dessert instead of the child dessert if you want.

The age will not be a problem. The appetizers will only be a problem in certain places--Le Cellier comes to mind--there it is better to pay for the kids meal than to "waste" a voucher. Everywhere else we had no problems (Alfredo's, RFC/AK, Prime time, Mexico--sorry for got the name!, and few others). Both experiences at RFC were a bit different, but the kids did have to order off of the kids dessert menu since there was one.

Has anyone used the child's voucher @ Brown Derby or the Concourse Steak House? We planned on using them twice (the other @ RFC) but are undecided on where to use the second one. Orginally we wanted Le Cellier but now it doesn't look like a very good option for the money.

I did not read where she said she was lying:confused:

To the OP you most certainly can use them up until age 11.
As far as the appetizers, my dd was NOT allowed to order one at LeCellier. At the RFC its as is anything goes. Enjoy.

We usewd them at Concourse and had the last lunch seating.. The kids were allowed appetizers and they also had a kids steak. IMHO it was a good value.

The Concourse Steakhouse is exactly why I asked this.:) Looking at the menu, my son could do some serious damage to a kids' voucher!;) I'm now planning to go back and order two of those, plus some more restaurant coupons. (Already have the adult vouchers)
Thanks for the replies. BTW, I thought I'd read somewhere that they could be used up to age 11. (of couse considering how many different answers, maps, pictures, recommendations, I've found discrepancies in during the past few days, while re reading my guide books.....)

My ds was allowed to order an appetizer and dessert off the adult menu at Le Cellier. I definitely think it depends on the server.

We also got to order appetizers off the adult menu using a child's voucher. This was April 2004 when we went. I think I would have to call a manager or supervisor over in a situation such as this. She got the cheese soup and ended up not liking it so I swaped with her the appetizer I got- which I don't remember since I didn't get to eat it!

We used a child voucher at Alfredo's and she was able to order an appetizer and dessert from the adult menu. Great value!
