Is there somewhere on dvcmember.com I can check online to see if my waitlist has come through? If it comes through would it show up as a booked vacation in my account? I would like to keep track of this and don't want to call daily to check....thanks!

It will show up as book vacation on DVC member site.

On the other hand, there are many anecdotal reports of "pixie dust" occurring and waitlists "just coming in" when people call to check. Way too many to ignore. I'd call occasionally.

This is interesting because I called this AM to change a WL for our November BLT trip because I did not think the last two nights would come through due to Jersey week. MS strongly urged me not to change the WL. When I persisted, MS told me to trust him on it. I didn't know what to think because I have always been told MSs can not see where you are on the wait list. I told MS that I will hold off making any changes based on his advise and keep my fingers crossed. He told me something like I don't need to cross them too tightly. I was totally left with the impression that the waitlist is coming through. So far on the member site it has not come through. It will be interesting to see if it comes through in the next few days.

If I had to guess, I'd say that BLT will be declaring more inventory soon. I understand that they just did that and depending on the rate at which the points are selling they will do it again. When inventory is declared think about all of the WLs out there that suddenly have rooms to use.

Declaring new inventory does not have appear to have any impact. Over the years, there has never been any evidence--not even anecdotal--of massive waitlist requests being satisfied after points are declared.

DVC has the ability to set room inventory based upon anticipated future declarations, and I suspect that's exactly what they do.

They are able to see if it has matched. Some CM's will actually take care of it and other's let the waitlist person take care of it. I'd say it's very likely you've got your room! You'll probably know by Monday or Tuesday.

So a waitlist will show a match in MS system and it has to be manually processed by waitlist staff? That seems to make sense and would explain MS advice to me. Thank you for giving me more hope! I really did not think I would get 11/8 & 9 at BLT based on what I have read here plus it is Jersey week. I'll post back here if the waitlist comes through. Sorry for hijacking your thread, OP.

Yes, that's my understanding. Twice I've gotten calls by that person when a waitlist has matched to verify borrowing points.

You were exactly right! I received an email today that my WL for 11/8 & 9 at BLT 1BR came through. We have our entire stay at BLT which is what we wanted. :yay:This will open up a BCV 1BR on 11/8 & 9 for someone out there on the WL.:flower3:

Congrats!! And darn! We're on a waitlist for BWV for the night of 11/9 - so close! :rotfl:

No problem for your "hijacking"! I learned a lot!

We are wait listing 8/14-8/16 for vero beach. Hope we get it, I'm checking email several times a day, wishing for pixie dust:rotfl:

For those who know, does this sum up how it works?

The waitlist is put into the computer. If there is a match, it is found via the computer. It doesn't automatically book the ressie, but gets sent maybe in a list or something to CM's who open up the match, borrow points if need be, actually book the ressie and do anything else if need be (I know there was a note in my waitlist although I don't remember what it was). Once the actual book is done it generates the email or letter depending on how the confirmation was requested. Is this correct?

If so, I just have a couple of questions - how long do you think it takes once a match is found in the computer to the point of the CM booking the ressie and generating a confirmation?

The confirmation if done via email takes about a day? (This is what a CM told me but just wondering if that's correct--they told me that via mail takes a lot longer)

Say if there is time between when the computer finds the match and the CM making the booking, is there a chance the room can be snagged by other CM's making ressies?

Does the computer automatically find the match once the waitlist matches, in other words, the second a person calls to cancel their booking, the room is available, but the computer sees the waitlist match and grabs it before it gets put in the general pool of room availability?

Why do some CM"s process the match if you happen to call and it's sitting there, and why do others not? Why would the CM from PP not even tell them that there was a match? What would be the big secret?

Also, when would you be able to see the resv. on dvcmember.com? Right after the waitlist CM processed the booking?

Just trying to get a better understanding and make sure that rooms aren't given away by accident just because the waitlist matches haven't been processed yet or something!

TIA!

Why do some CM's process the match and others don't?

I call every day :rotfl2:
Still praying for boardwalk view instead of garden! :cloud9:
Our trip is fast approaching....:wizard:

I can provide some anecdotal evidence -- when our BLT WL request was filled in 2009, it was pretty clear to me that was what had happened, based both on the timing and what I was told by MS prior to it clearing.
