Hello everyone!

I am planning a trip to Florida in May for my mom and I. We would first go on a cruise leaving from Tampa, after that go to WDW.
The day the cruise ends, apparantly we'll be in port at 8 am in Tampa. The idea would be to transfer to WDW, go shopping at the outlet shopping in orlando that afternoon/ evening, the next day go visit kennedy space center and then enjoy 6 or so days at WDW. For WDW, we'll rely on Disney transportation.

But, now my questions: Is it possible to rent a car at Tampa and bring it back at one of the DTD Hotels? (or the S/D?) How easy/ difficult would that be?
If we bring back the car at MCO, can we take ME for our transfer to our resort? Or would we need to book a Mears shuttle?

We are not used to rent a car, only did it once last year at D/FW, and it's rather confusing to us

Thanks a lot for all your replies!

You can pick up a car and then drop it at a different spot very easily. We are renting a car at the Doubletree in DTD, driving it to Port Canaveral, dropping it off there before our cruise, then renting another car there after the cruise, driving to Tampa and then dropping the car off at Tampa Intnl 4 days later.
You could drop the car off at MCO and then take ME to your resort. You would just have to give them flight info for a flight that arrives into MCO about the time you want to leave the airport.
But, I would say that returning the car to a non-airport spot would be just about as easy. Most rental agencies will shuttle you to your resort when you drop off.
You'll will just have to decide on which car rental company you want to use based on ease of pick up and return.

Its very easy to return a car at WDW - no need to drive all the way to the airport. When you are making your car rental reservation, just be sure to select the option that allows you to drop it off at a different location from where you rent. Don't worry, none of the car rental companies that I know of in Florida charges extra to drop a car off at a different location in state.

def beware the drop off charge! mousesavers has a corp id that covers it for Dollar. Know they have a site @ one of the DTD hotels (cannot remember it's name). Alamo & National @ the Swan/Dolphin.

Long as you're staying onsite you can use ME; just schedule it.

To OP - slightly OT - what line/ship are you cruising on? Have you sailed from Tampa before? We've booked a 7 night on the Legend and are very curious.:teacher:
