Hey Everyone,

So we will be doing our first trip to US (normally don't leave Disney) and staying at Cabana Bay for 10 days this Oct. I had called to change my ticket options and was told because I was making a change that I now qualified for for the free breakfast promotion. So I have a couple of question as I can't really find any info about it.

1. We only get 2 free meals each morning but are a party of 4. Is it still going to be a value for us to do breakfast every morning as we will have to pay for 2 oop. (We didn't really plan on doing breakfast as we are a grab and go morning type of family).

2. What are the options at Cabana Bay for breakfast. Seems like there may only be one choice.

3. Is it going to be super busy in the mornings if they are offering free breakfast to most guests? Is it worth the time or just going to be a hassle?

Looking forward to seeing everyone's thoughts.

I would love this information as well.

But I will offer some answers.
There are two places to get breakfast at CB. One is Starbucks and the other is the Bayliner Diner.
I have yet to see Bayliner diner super busy. They seem to be really good at having lots of cashiers for you to use and food ready to go. Starbucks now thats another story. I have a feeling that the free breakfast isn't at Starbucks

oh man, I didn't know that there is a Starbucks in the Hotel. That's dangerous. But yes, I'm 100% sure that you can't use the free breakfast and Starbucks.

If you are not big breakfast eaters, then maybe you can get by with 2 plates shared between the four of you. You could add in some things from home to make it bigger (fruit, muffins, cereal/granola bars).

I would also add that the Bayliner Diner is a nice place. I purchased some scrambled eggs and grits separate. And they were inexpensive and good. So you don't have to have a big heavy breakfast.

They also have a really good omlett

That's a good idea. I'm not even sure what is included for "free breakfast". That could mean a lot of different things. Anyone know if it is listed anywhere?

Thanks for the feedback!

So I had another thought. I wonder how they issue the breakfast "coupons". If it is anything like Disney and they use credits I could just use 4 "breakfast credits" every other day.

Hmmmm

Check out the link I gave you above. I would imagine that a free breakfast is one of the larger items (entrees) and a coffee.

Right, but I would rather not assume. Like to see things in writing. I'm sure there is info somewhere regarding the promo, I just need to look.

¥Minimum four (4) night stay required at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort 9/7/15 – 12/17/15. Maximum of two (2) free breakfasts per hotel room, per night valid each day of hotel stay with a value of up to $26 per day. Applies to food and beverage (excluding alcohol) at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort restaurants only, days/hours of operation may vary. Offer must be booked by 6/30/15. This promotion is not valid at the deluxe on-site hotels. Offer is non-transferable and cannot be combined with any other offers, promotions, discounts or prior purchases. Offer subject to availability. Any unused portions are non-transferable and non-refundable and additional restrictions may apply.

Thats all I could find....

Is the free breakfast costing you anymore than you are spending for your package otherwise? We all know "free dining" at Disney isn't free and you need to do the math to see if it's worth it. Don't know if the same is true at Uni. If it's not costing more, than I don't see the harm in getting the 2 free b'fasts and use them or not use them at your pleasure. If you have to pay extra for it, then I wouldn't bother since it would take you out of your typical pattern of being a grab and go family. 10 days would be a lot of mornings to try to make that work for you.

No, it was no more then the booking I already had and only got it by chance because I called to make a change regarding my tickets. I'm the type of guy that if I have credits for something, I feel like I need to use them to get the best value. That said, I'm struggling with the idea of being at the hotel restaurant every morning for breakfast, just not our style. Usually stock our room with bagels and other easy morning foods.

There seems to be very little information around the net about how this is actually implemented. I guess this is the first year they have really run this promotion. It would be great if it was like Disney and I could just use the credits how I see fit.

Is this a package through Universal Orlando Vacations? Shoot them an email. Since it is new, people here can only guess.

Are they dated? Would you be able to save day one's and use them along with day two's? That way you could take your time one morning and all have a sit down meal before heading out.

This promotion sounds to me like they would give you coupons... Like they did when we had a laundry issue at CB. (We stayed the very first days they were open last year).

Each coupon was good for up to $10 breakfast meal, I think, plus a drink. We all got bacon, eggs, hash browns, coffee... had no problem whatsoever. I'd definitely call and just ask them at the hotel, "Are we getting paper coupons, or how does this work?"

Have FUN! We loved CB and can't wait to go back sometime. :)
