I have'nt researched any other prices on BLT. Disney is offering 160 points at BLT for 17.920 Are the prices of BLT alot different from agency to agency? I'm wondering if I should wait on a better deal. The price increase is the 4th and I'm panicing!;) Thanks so much for your help! April

There has been only a handful of resale contracts for BLT. They have been anywhere between $95 to $102 per point. However, these resale contracts for BLT are few. BTW I just checked the TSS (see link above) and they do not have any BLT contracts available.

If you don't have your heart set on BLT you can check out resale for all of the other WDW DVC resorts. We just received notice today that our bid on a resale contract for AKV passed ROFR. We are paying $84 per point on a 100 point contract.

Thanks, Yes this is what I was thinking since it's so new. DH and I are pretty much sold on BLT:lovestruc:lmao: We're big MK fans, also DS is 4 , so that's the park that we frequent. It sounds like you got a great deal on AKV! Congrats!:woohoo: I've been wondering this for a while, what does ROFR stand for? Thanks again for your help!:cloud9: April

ROFR represents Disney's opportunity to buy, at the agreed upon price, any resale. The offer goes to Disney before it can be finalized, and Disney has around 30 days, maybe more or less in cases it's not hard and fast, to decide if they want to buy the contract, or if it will be sold to the party who has negotiated the deal.

That's why you should at least look at the thread that gives the sales that went through or were taken by Disney before you make an offer on a resale. It isn't known to outsiders what Disney "wants" but you do get an idea.

:) Disney's Right Of First Refusal as explained above. Good luck we bought in June:thumbsup2

Thanks eveyone for your hlelp! DH is out of town, but with the rate increase tomorrow, I'm working something out with my rep today until DH gets home!:cool1: I hope I'm making the right decision on BLT! Thanks again! April

We're also buying BLT - through Disney because we need the financing - you can't easily finance a purchase that is resale.

If we had enough "cash" we would have gotten BWV via a resale....

Congrats to the two new prospective BLT owners! One other thing to conider is that BLT contracts last longer and the dues are lower than AKV or BWV, so in the long the cost per point per year may in fact be less even though the up front price is more. Enjoy!!!

Is Disney currently offering no incentives with BLT? 160 points for for $17,920 is the $112 per point "regular" price but there is usually some discount being offered. Does anyone know whether there are any incentives right now? Also I thought the price insrease was November 1 not October 4?

You don't need to know by tomorrow. You need to slow down, research thoroughly, and then decide what is best for your family.

The initial purchase price is only a fraction of the overall cost of a DVC ownership. Don't be pressured into a rash decision.

We are buying at 112pp, but then Disney is putting 5pp towards our downpayment, so really - we're buying at 107pp.

The price increase for new members is Oct. 4th, someone posted earlier that it's nov. 1st for existing members wishing to add on points.

I think the price increase is Nov. 1st for existing members, ask your Guide.
Did you ask if there are any incentives to purchase at BLT?
We own at BLT, so maybe we'll be "neighbors" Welcome home!
Good luck!

Points are the same as far as using them. If you are set on BLT then, buy it from Timeshare Resale. It is best place to get even lower price per point, and fee. There are some now that are around $60...I've even seen $47 per point.

Don't rush to buy, they are not going anywhere. Check resale market, take the time to do research.

Yes, they're actually giving it to us at 105 a point ( because they're helpign out on the down payment like PP said) they're also giving us 160 points for this year and then we'll get another 160 points in Feb. That was it I think. DH was the one that took the tour and spoke to the rep....DH is a pilot for the congressmen and senators and he's out of town for 5 days. Our rep called us up and asked me if I wanted to put a little down just to lock the price in before the increase so it could buy me some time until DH got home;) I really want to talk DH into this! I went ahead and put some $$ down today. What do you think? A pp poster stated that there are resales out there for as low as $47 a point, but I have'nt seen any of those.. It's just seems alot easier going Direct. WDYT? Thanks so much everyone for your help. In case you can't tell, umm, I'm clueless at this DVC thing!:rotfl: Thanks, April

Don't buy while still clueless!!!!! Take your time. Know what you're getting.

I'm not an expert in resale prices, but I'm not sure $47 for any of the resorts could pass Disney's Right of First Refusal (if the price is too low, Disney buys it back at what they feel is fair, and the buyer loses out). If it could...it's NOT for BLT, though.

You need to understand what you're getting...we went 2 years between learning about it and buying. Sure we could have gotten in for less if we bought then, but that's OK, we understand it more now.

Try not to panic.
I own at BLT & bought after MANY years of thinking about DVC. My husband & I just weren't 100% sure it was right for us. By the time we bought, we knew a lot about DVC. We were thrilled to buy at BLT because we stayed at CR for most of our WDW vacations. We are very comfortable w/CR. We enjoy walking to/from MK, taking the monorail to the other resorts on the monorail loop, taking monorail to Epcot, taking the boat to FW.....lots of things. CR feels like home to us.
Have you stayed at BLT or CR?
Have you stayed at any WDW DVC?
I will say you should buy where you want to stay. MANY people said that to me before my purchase & it makes sense.
DVC is a lot of money & you should be 100% sure it is right for you.
Only you can answer that.
Good luck!

Putting the deposit down has at least secured you the price the rep quoted you for now. But, as others said, take your time and be sure that you understand DVC before finalizing your purchase.

There are better deals out there for the older resorts and you can save money going that way. However, if you want BLT, then going direct through Disney right now is the easiest option. We bought in this past winter because we wanted BLT, even though we could have gotten SSR via the resale market for $4000 - $5000 less. But, in the end, since we bought in to DVC as a long term commitment, it was worth spending a few hundreds dollar more per year to be at BLT.

And, if in the next few weeks, Disney comes out with incentives for new buyers that lowers the price, ask your guide to re-do the contract. We did that as well as we had not yet closed when better ones came out and they just re-did things for us.

Good luck!

Thanks! Hey, if Disney does come out with better deals in a few weeks, how would we go about re-doing the contract.... If we finalize next week to lock in the 112 point price... how would that work.... also how do I find out the deals the Disney is offering on BLT later? How did you keep from closing if it was weeks later? Thanks so much for your help with this! We were staying at the Poly when DH took the tour BLT, he LOVED it and we really do not want to be anywhere else because of the monorail and the location to the MK. Thanks again! April

I've been keeping an eye on 3 of the resale places since the end of August. The cheapest I've seen for BLT since then is $95 per point.

Last I checked, on all 3 websites, there was only 1 BLT contract available.

You would just contact your guide and let him know that you want to re-do things.

Once you agree to purchase, Disney will send you the paperwork (takes about a week from the time you call and put down your deposit). You have about 7 days to get it signed and sent back. There is also a 10 day rescind period from the date that you sign so Disney can't close your contract until after that is over.

When I re-did mine last winter, it was about 3 weeks after I signed and sent back my papers. I called the guide and he said I had not closed so he pulled the contract, re-did it with the new deal, and sent them out again.
