? about borrowing

Im pretty new to borrowing points so I could use some help.
We used our 2003 points for our upcoming Aug. 2003 trip. We decided we would like to take a quick trip in March 2003. I would need to borrow 60 points from 2004. My use year is April. Is this a problem or can I do it?
Tried calling member services but it is busy!That seems odd!

Since your use year month is April, March 2003 would be in your 2002 use year. You can't borrow from your 2004 use year into your 2002 use year.

Now, what MS should be able to do for you is borrow 60 points from 2004 to take care of some of your ressie in Aug 2003, and then you would have 2003 use year points available to borrow into 2002. However, in order to do this they may need to cancel a day (or 2) off of the Aug reservation, make the March reservation using 60 of those points and then re-reserve the August dates - not sure how flexible the software is.

Anyway, if you call MS and explain what you want to do, Im pretty sure they can work this out for you.

Also, be very certain that this is what you want to do, because if you have to cancel the March ressie for any reason the points go into a holding account and will expire come 1-Apr.

MS being busy seemed odd? When we first joined DVC last January, I was so excited to make our first ressies and yet for 2 days every time I called MS they were busy. Yesterday, when I called to make Thanksgiving ressies, I called about 6 times before I got through. They were always busy. Maybe I'm just calling at a bad time!?

nope I don't think so. The points from you 2004 UY would be good (orignally) from Apr 2004 to March 2005, if you borrow them to 2003 UY they would be good from Apr 2003 to March 2004. Since you want to go before this they would not be good.

You could cancel a night or two of the current ressie to get 60 points for the stay and then borrow point and rebook the nights you cancelled.

I did finally get through to member services and they told me I couldnt borrow. However, Im going to call back and ask about cancelling, borrowing the 60 points for March and then rebooking for Aug. Member services didnt say anything about me being able to do that!
