it's been a long time since i booked a room with an ap discount. dh and i are hoping to go to wdw in late may. should i make a ressie now? will i be able to apply an ap discount if they come out or will i have to cancel and re-book?

tia for any advice. :)

You can book now and have any codes that come out between now and your trip be applied to your existing reservation. I suggest booking through someone like dreamsunlimitedtravel.com (board sponsor). They're completely free and will watch the codes for you to find the best deal. I booked a trip with them and learned about a discount on here. Before I even got a chance to email them about it they'd emailed me saying they'd applied it to my ressie. I definitely recommend them!!

Personally, I wait until the codes come out.

If people book all the rooms at rack rate or AAA rate, Disney has no reason to offer discounts. The AP Rate would apply only to a room that is not sold yet; when you book a room, that room is considered sold. So even if you have a reservation (made at rack or AAA rate) there is no guarantee that you will be able to get the AP rate at that resort.

I know a lot of people say book what you can afford and what you would be willing to pay if no AP rates come out
