They do ask for a credit card # to guarantee the reservation. You will be charged 1 nights rate if you cancel within 5 days of arrival. When I used cash nights last year, they charged my card on my check-in day, separate from my room charges at check-out.

Is it to late to book a room for October. I booked a 1br at SSR through CRO on friday hoping AP rates will apply to my stay. After doing a little math it seems there won't be to much difference in price by getting the member discount, also I wouldn't pay tax on a member stay(correct). I'm saving my points for our family vacation in 2005. Thanks Susan

You will be charged tax on the member discount rate, 11.5% same as CRO. A member discounted room is treated same as points as far as housekeeping (day 4 trash & towel) and member perks (35 cents local calls). I believe you could pool hop, your key should say "*DVC Member*". With CRO reservation, you would get daily housekeeping but no member perks on the room (75 cents local calls, no pool hopping).

It's probably not too late, member discounts sometimes come out closer to the date. I got a member discount last year at OKW at about the 60 day mark (I didn't call prior to that).
