So, I booked a room at Poly for 30 Apr-6 May 06 for our family of 4 DH, Me, DD3 and DD1. I also got 7 day park hoppers for the 3 of us(dd1 doesn't need one obviously). So don't kill me, but I did this before I knew about any kind of discount (other than possibly military) so I paid rack rate. :guilty: I also had them book my airfare because it really was cheaper than anything else I could find since I live in a not so big town where not all airlines fly out of.

My question is can I upgrade 1 ticket to an AP, then if a code comes out have it applied to my reservation? I would think that this would save us money in the long run especially if I get the DDE too.

Thanks so much!

Don't feel silly...most of us have booked a trip to WDW paying rack rates/package before we knew any better. Since you most probably bought a package through Disney, you won't be able to upgrade a hopper pass to an AP. And so won't be able to apply any discounts to your package. You may want to look at adding the DDP to your package though. That's not a bad deal. If you aren't using a package, I stand corrected.

If you booked everything piece by piece, then you should be able to upgrade to an AP, then, most likely, when the AP rates come out, you have to book a new reservation and get a new one using the AP rate. At least, that is what a TA told me.

You can book with the AP rate. You will need the AP to check in.well they say yu will need one,But I have never been asked to show mine..You can go to any park or Downtown Disney to upgrade. You will just hve to pay the difference..AP rates are not guaranteed, but they are only rarely not offered..

You can also upgrade one ticket to an AP at the TTC and since you are staying at the Poly you can literally walk over to the TTC before you check in to upgrade the ticket. :thumbsup2

IMHO the dining plan would be a waste of money for you considering the age of your dds but the DDE card would probably pay for itself with your visit being 7 days.

We will be neighbors--DH, DD(7), DD(5), and myself will be at the CR from May 1 - May 6 :cool1:

Since the OP booked airfare thru Disney, she booked a package. AP rates cannot be applied to a package reservation.

thank you all so much! I told DH that at least we know better for the next time - hopefully next year! I told him that if I got an AP next year then we could take another trip the following year befor the AP expired, and he thought that was a great idea!! :Pinkbounc Yeah!! :Pinkbounc I'll have a long time to plan our next, more informed trip!

Is it too late to cancel the package? If not, I would seriously consider cancelling and re-booking the room immediately, then doing the rest (ticket purchase, air) piecemeal. If you book room-only, you seem to have more flexibility in adjusting your room rates and ticket length if or when the codes come out.
