We are booked to go the last wk of Sept at our home resort but are hoping to make a switch at the 7 month mark. I have been looking at AKV & would really like to stay there but I keep reading reviews about the long walks to the room with little kids being "brutal". I'm not sure if this means just from the bus stop or not & since we will have a car I am wondering if this will effect us at all? Can anyone help me out & let me know what the parking situation is like there? Thanks so much!

There are huge parking lots outside both Jambo House and Kidani. If you have a car, you just park in which one is closest to your room and you should have a very short walk back to your room.

The "long" walk I think people are referring to is the walk between buildings (which isnt really long at all) if you are staying at Kidani and want to go to the Mara, Boma or Jikos to eat. There are also bus stops right next to each building that go to all the parks and DTD, but if you are using your car to go back and forth then no sweat.

Awesome, thank you Rob!

I think people also refer to the hallways within the resort. I have no problem walking them b/c as you walk you get to see the savanna through large windows on each floor. Depending on the ages of your children I would bring a stroller just b/c they get pooped out by the end of the day.

People also complain that AKL/V is so far away from all the parks, but I think it is great. I have had just as long of bus rides coming from the Epcot area buses.

AKV is my home resort and it is beautiful!!! I can't recommend it enough!

Oh yeah... Well staying in Kidani, depending where your room is could be a hike from the lobby. But the one time we stayed there, we we are on the far end and got off at Jambo and hit the first set of elevators. It was quicker than getting off at kidani and walking around the entire building. LOL!

We mostly stay Jambo CL now and we do use the buses all the time. Never that bad - on a rare occasion, when we just missed one, we sometimes have a wait, but most times they come quickly for us.
