? about age requirement-Maelstrom

I read on another site that Maelstrom has an age requirement of 3. We are going to Orlando Wednesday night to spend the weekend--it will be first trip for DS, 19mos. We thought this would be an Epcot ride he would enjoy. Can anyone tell me if this age requirement is for real??

Our daughter rode Maelstrom at 2 1/2 and did fine. It is dark and scary and there is a drop - it isn't a ride I'd start with, but if yours handles rides well, there shouldn't be a problem.

Our DD rode at 7-1/2 months. She loved it!
This was this past May.

We took both DDs (4.5 yrs and 22 mos) on this ride just a few weeks ago. No problems with either one. Younger DD could not stop swivelling her head to take it all in! Our "biggest" concern was whether or not DH could take his Margarita from Mexico in the ride. No prob.

As an aside, we did not stay for teh Norway film after the ride. We just walked through the theater, and on to the rest of the WS.
