? about ADRs/stand by

If you can't get an ADR for a popular restaurant, let's say Le Cellier, is there still a stand by list you can get on at the resaturant? Could you put your name on the list and come back later, or do they only book ADRs and then they are totally full for the day?

Im pretty sure theres no stand by list. If there was there would be 1000 people a day on it

This can work at some places... many times an ADR won't show up and then they can take a walk up. We have done this at 50's Prime Time, Mama Melrose and one or two more places. We have tried this twice at Le Cellier and no luck - they would not even take our names for the chace that someone didn't show up.....
