I had a friend tell me yesterday that he had heard that they may be going back to the 180 day ADR.... wondered if he heard this correct and if anyone had any info regarding?

Thanks
Flo

Bumping.....I'm curious about this too.

I read something about this (I think on touringplans.com recent news, but I'm not sure). I think Len Testa wrote it and said that after complaints from people vacationing to Disney about the 90 day ADRs, they were going to switch back to 180 in November or December. I don't know where the info came from and I'm sure it's a possibility---but like most things Disney, I'll believe it when I see it :goodvibes

Edited to add: Yup---it was on touringplans.com I saw it. Here is the link to the blog that was written. http://blog.touringplans.com/2009/0...dining-moving-back-to-180-day-booking-window/

I think 90 days before is better, it was easier to be more definite about plans for our vacation 3 months out as oppose to 6

for those who prefer the 6 months I am wondering the reasons why..I am sure there are some valid point that I am not thinking about.

I don't really care one way or the other---won't be able to have an opinion for a real preference for another 2 months or so after I have to make my ressies. 90 days is nice for planning a more "last minute" trip. 180 days was probably better for us compulsive planners because I would think most people don't make dining reservations/serious plans 6 months out---so it gave us a little jump on the rest of the crowd. :thumbsup2

Wahoooo...I sure hope so because the new 90 day STINKS. Crossing fingers it happens.

I think they should only change back to 180 days if they also plan to release park schedules at 180 days too. Otherwise, people are going to be scrambling to change ressies anyway, so things will still be crazy.

:thumbsup2 good point!

Personally I would prefer for them to go back to the older system. If you had a Disney Reservation Number you could reserve up to 60 days out. If you did not have a Disney Confirmation Number you could reserve 30 days out. And if you cancelled your reservation or checked out early all your Dining Reservations would be cancelled.

Why??:confused3

I hear some complaining about 90 day windows, but 6 mths??? :scared1:

That is a bit too much IMHO....

One does not even know the park hours, how can you plan that far out w/o chasing the ADR's??

When it was 180 day ADRs, the park hours were released around the same time, just like they are now with the 90 day ADRs. It seems like everybody keeps forgetting that! It's not any different except it's shifted by 3 months.

I think 90 is more difficult because I think more people are willing and organized enough to book at 90 days vs. 180. So as a planner, I liked 180 better.

Well I did not know that.....

I still just have a hard time planning out 90 days much less then 180....:scared1:

Why did they stop doing this?

I too prefer 180 days. As Vicki C said, I am a planner and once I have a sense of the park hours, I can plan my ADR's. Since, IMO< most people are not planning that far in advance, I feel as if I have an advantage.
Also I read this on DVC News.com and it was a rumor attributed to Len Testa

I'm good with 90. I hope they leave it.

I do wish the Swan/Dolphin folks got the 90+10 tho. That's my bummer.

I would have personally liked the 180 days for our upcoming trip. We know when we are going in October or November of the year before because of DH's vacation picks. Now Disney Visa released their free dining for our dates and of course we jumped on it...but I worry about getting our choices (which was never a problem with the 180 day ADRs). Plus the rumors floating around that the free dining is going public on Sunday, so if that happens we will be in HUGE competition for our ADRs. It's never been a problem in the past, but we've never gone on free dining either. We always travel in October.

All that said, I've got my compulsive color coded list ready and will be calling a few minutes before they open the phone lines so I can hopefully get what I want.

Exactly. I have my DVC reservations at 11 months so I"d be ready to make my ADRs THEN if we could.

When we go to Disney, we plan at least a year ahead. As a matter of fact, we are already getting ideas and the initial planning done for my DD's 5th b-day trip in Feb 2011. And we decided that we will take both of the children for halloween in 2013. We know when we first start planning where we want to eat while we are there, so 180 days works great for us. Plus, as a pp mentioned, a lot of people plan last minute, so those of us planning at 180 days get a jump on those who plan last minute.

And one of the pp's was right. When it was 180 previously, the park hours were out 180 days as well. And though park hours may change a little, they are usually extended not shortened, so there shouldn't be huge rushes to change ADR's.

I am a planner all the way and I loved when I could make our ADR's at 180 days out. My fingers are crossed that they bring it back!!! :thumbsup2

I'd LOVE for them to bring back the 180 days out for ADR's!!!!!! We also plan about a year or more in advance for our trips and it made it sooooo much easier to plan things in advance and then be able to relax some the closer it came to time to FINALLY get to WDW. 90 days out really inhales when you're a planner.:sad1:

I REALLY hope they bring back the 180 days.
