Is there any way to get around the "act" that the waiters put on? I really would like to eat there, but I don't think that DH and his dad would get a kick out of the "act". I am looking for someplace different to take them inside of the parks for dinner that would serve "normal" food.

Thanks!

When you check in at the Prime Time 50's, you could request the least interactive server & explain that you would prefer to have a quiet meal. I'm sure they could accomodate you.

I highly recommend Mama Melrose at MGM for a nice "normal" meal. Italian food, pizza, etc. all very good. It's a little hard to find, off the beaten path.

Enjoy!

Did you ever try Hollywood and Vine restaurant next door to the Prime Time Cafe? It is a buffet that has a wonderful selection of foods. There are also characters roaming the room. We really enjoyed the food there.

Thanks for both of your replies. We have never eaten at either place. I think that Hollywood and Vine might be a better option now that you mention it.

Thanks again!

If you have time you should stop in at the Prime Time Bar, attached to the restaurant. You can see some of the campy 50's furnishings & not be bothered. Sometimes there is an actor in costume sitting at the bar, they are always funny to watch. Once I saw 2 women in 40's-50's clothes pretending to be a stage mother with a young wannabe actress, they were chatting with the bartender & anyone who would talk to them, it was very amusing. You can just hang there or you can get a Coke or something stronger. ;)

I didn't think my parents would enjoy 50's Primetime's antics, either... but they LOVED it! I did "prime" them for it, though!

My dad liked it so much, he gave "Mom" a hug and promised to cut the grass when he came back in from playing. My parents are in their 60's, so you never can tell! Your parents may really get a kick out of it, too!

50s Prime Time is definitely not the place to go if you don't want to be bothered. Try Hollywood & Vine next door...best bet.

In fact, be careful at the bar, as well. As I was sitting at the bar, the bartender kept telling everyone who walked up to the bar that I was 'miserable' and other misc. stories. He didn't know me (and I was definitely not miserable, just hungry) but was doing the whole "act" for show. It was pretty funny. I LOVE that place!

I'd avoid PTC if you want a quiet meal. Even if your server isn't very interactive, all the others ones in there will be. They're very loud - shouting to each other and that sort of thing. We had fun there and really enjoyed the "normal" food (meatloaf), but if I was looking for a little peace, I'd steer clear.
