What are the chances I can extend my stay (All-Star Music) next week by a day .. AFTER I arrive? This a a resort only booking and we are driving)

Tried doing it online and seems that there is ZERO availability to stay another night (8/21). (even at standard rates)

We just had some plans open up and I was originally planning on just leaving on 8/21 halfway through the day, driving a few hours and staying at a hotel somewhere near the state line just to make sure we got home by mid afternoon on Thursday. But since the Thursday plans changed we could stay another night and just do the drive (600 miles) all in one day Thursday (and arrive late at night) .

Since there is no online availability, am I just outta luck? If I check while I am there next week, would something open up? Someone cancel .. etc.

My guess is it is too late at this point .. as my room probably is already assigned to the next guest .. and if I have to move to another room, that defeats the puprose of staying another night.

Room only cancellations must be made 5 days prior to arrival, in order to get a full refund. So it's still a possibility that There could be a cancellation.

Room requests are not guaranteed. We've been coming for years, and rooms are "assigned" 5 to 7 days out. I would suggest you try calling today. They probably are seeing what you are seeing online.

when you check in I would ask, it maybe possible.

you might be able to, but it's possible you'd have to move to another room. All you can do is ask. Although I am not sure you can even pay for an additional reservation at the front desk, and that's what it is going to be, an additional reservation.

So .. if there is no availability (standard or preferrred) for that night (a Wednesday in late August) .. does that mean the hotel is 100% booked that night? Yikes.

It is possible. Schools in Florida started yesterday. Up north schools start after Labor Day and the tickets, room, etc are a little cheap er. Also when we were there one year, in August there was some kind of soccer competition at the sports complex with teams staying at value resorts.

We’ve extended our stay several times. As others have suggested, call now. If that doesn’t work, ask on check-in.

Good luck!

We had to extend our stay once in the weather when our flight home was cancelled. We had to switch rooms because they had already assigned our room to someone else. Call as soon as possible if you want to try and keep the same room. :)

I’ve extended my stay a couple of times. One time the All Star resort I was booked in was completely full, so I had to take a room in o e of the other All Stars.
Another time when I asked to extend I was able to stay in the same room.
It all depends on availability.

Does it have to be the room you have booked already? Why not book what you can, is available, that's in your price point? To be sure you have A room. I mean, why would it defeat the purpose if the reason is to adjust your drive? A night at Disney is a night at Disney, right?

Could you call? Is it available if you put in more nights, but not if you select just the one night? Sometimes the system won’t allow you to book just one night if it leaves an odd occupancy gap, so calling might help.

It all depends on the availability of rooms at All-Star Music for next Wednesday night. I would think it is very likely that you will be able to get next Wednesday added unless it is sold out due to Teen groups or some other group block bookings.

You should call and not depend on the online system. Were you trying to modify your existing reservation to add a day or to make a new 1 day reservation online?

The current reservation system is designed to minimize orphan rooms so just trying to book a 1 night stay for next Wednesday is probably why you don't see any availability online. Again call reservations and ask the CM about adding a day to your existing reservation. If the CM has issues with this ask to speak to a Guest Services CM. The GS team has more flexibility concerning modifications to your reservation as long as there is acutally availability for next Wednesday at the All-Star Music resort.

If you can't add Wednesday before you arrive, stop at the front desk at check-in or very early in your stay and inquire about modifiing your extending stay by 1 night staying in the "same" room. Don't call from your room as you will not talk to the Front desk but a call center where you will very likely end up with a new reservation which might not allow you to stay in the same room.

You would only have to move to another room if you end up with a new 1 night reservation which is not what the OP wants. Yes you can make & pay for an additional reservation at the front desk. In the OP's case they want to modify their reservation to add a day to stay in the same room.

I called and they didnt see availability either except for Family Suites.

As I look now .. they do have a Preferred room available for JUST Wednesday night. Dont think it woiuld be worth it to have to shuffle rooms .. may as well just pack up and leave then. I guess I will just check when we arrive and see if anything becomes available (and at what cost)

They suggested I actually try and make (myself online) a 1-day reservation for Wednesday night and call them back to link them together.

Not too concerned .. this is a last minute, cheap, trip just to go there for the SWGE preview. Was just trying to maximize our time there, but packing up Wednesday morning and just leaving direct from a park (early) and staying in Daytona Beach or Jacksonville is fine. Was just trying to extend the Magic .. :)

Whats odd is that the one night room (Preferred) only shows up if I am NOT logged in.
If I log in, that room availability disappears.

Oh well .. no worries. This is a short, flexible trip anyway.

Are you booked under any kind of discount or promotion? Keep in mind that if availability is sold out under that discount, they may have availability at rack rate. But if you modify your reservation to the new dates, you'd lose your discount. This is why people add on as an additional reservation, but that means you run the risk of having to switch rooms.

Remove all discounts from your search. Paying rack rate would open up rooms if there is availability.

Disney sometimes has rooms but it doesnt like 1 day bookings. Modify a reservation to add that room might also add it to the availability.

Check for the date you want (August 21) and also for a 2 or 3 night stay starting with the date you want. If you see availability call.. If the CM you speak to can't book it say 8/21 shows as available if you book 2 nights. Ask them to check with guest relations. Guest relations can override the booking system, assuming a room is available, and add it on to your reservation. Get lucky they might even be able to give you a discounted rate.

Years ago I had 3 nights booked at the Swan via Hotwire. I booked my flights needing an extra night. I kept checking Swan Dolphin generally showed as sold out but occassionally had $$$$ a few rooms available. When I checked in the agent reviewed my reservation including my check out date. I said my flights had changed. I said I'd like to stay an extra night if they could give me a reasonable rate. They offered me a reasonable rate, more then my Hotwire rate but less then rack rate. I had to switch to the Dolphin.

Orlando has so many hotel rooms. I thought it was worth a shot. Otherwise I'd have 3 days to find a hotel for my last night.

We checked in at POP Tuesday the 13th and they couldn't switch rooms or add nights. They are 100% booked.
