Ability to change number of people for reservation?

Hi,
I've been trying to get a lunch reservation for 2 at Le Cellier for our trip in a few weeks and have called numerous times with no luck. This morning I called and they offered me a reservation on Aug. 6 and then after she was putting it in, she said her computer said it could only be for four people. I said that there were just two of us and she said well, we have a reservation available for 4 if you would like it. So, I went ahead and took it thinking that maybe we can find two strangers who want to join us or maybe someone on the boards here. Has anyone had this happen when they were offered something for more than they needed and if so, were you able to change it later? I'm still going to keep calling for a reservation for 2 but don't know if anything will pop up.

Thanks.

This is the gray area of adrs, prepare to be flamed.A lot of people take the ressie for 4 and only show up with 2.Even disney dining will suggets this to people. But others will argue that this is totally wrong. My advice, don't sweat it .Go and just tell the podium cm the other 2 people cancelled.

When you check it, just tell them its just the 2 of you, and it won't be a problem.

This really is a hot topic but I don't see where you did anything wrong. The Cast Member suggested it and you feel badly about it. Go for the reservation and it will be fine.

At least you are decreasing your party size and not showing up with extra people.

Wow! Never heard that one before. Where they offer you a table of 4 and your only two. Good luck with that ress. LC is so hard to get.

i have read where people do that because there are times when seating for 2 is not available, also guidebooks suggest upping the count in your party to 3 or 4 in order to get a resservation. However like prior posters said this is a hot topic. i just read a few thrreads up where a poor girl got really beat up verbally by a person or two on the moral ramifications of this. so my suggestion would be to not visit this thread if you dont want to deal with the debate it could cause....but you will be fine to show up with just 2 people, just make sure to let the hostess know when you check in that it is only 2, that way when they call you to seat you they will be prepared for only 2 and not 4

I have twice had a reservation for 2 and have been placed at a table for 4. Didn't know until I showed up. Go and enjoy your meal! :)

Post in the trade thread and see if someone from here wants to join you. Spread the joy.

That happened to me last year! We showed up for an ADR and they looked at me confused with a child's menu in hand. I was like :confused3 and they said our ADR had a child listed. I said no, just furbabies at home! :lmao:

Thanks for all the feedback. I kept calling for a lunch for 2 and yesterday afternoon was told they had one spot on Saturday for two so I said great and took the time and wrote down the number (I was in the car and couldn't quite believe a slot for 2 people had opened up so I asked her to repeat the reservation information again). Then last night I called back just to double check that everything was set and was told my reservation was for 3 people. I said no, I asked for two and that's what she said she had. Apparently instead she put in for 3 and the new person I was talking to checked with a supervisor and said she changed it to two as I had been told it was for.
I just found it a little interesting that I was spending all this time calling back to get the correct number of people and they put it in for the wrong number. Anyway, I'm going to call back one more time today or tomorrow just to make sure things are correct.

I wouldn't keep calling, obviously they are limited on the number of tables that seat 2 and are going to put you at a 3 or 4 top table...........just go and enjoy your meals!!

We won't know until almost the last minute if my DS#2 will be able to get leave from Iraq to join us for DS #1's wedding at Disney! We have an ADR at CRT for dinner after the wedding for the 4 of us (DS#1, FDIL, DD and me) but if he CAN come (please send good thoughts his way!!), do you think I'll be able to add him to our ADR (hopefully at least a week or two before the dinner)?? Going frmo 4 to 5 I know means a larger table so I hesitate to do it if he won't be joining us, but not sure which would be better. Go ahead and change to 5 now and only show up with 4 or leave it at 4 and try to change to 5 just before the trip?

Thanks!!

I'd change to 5 now if you can; it's easier to go down than up. The majority of tables at most restaurants (and I would assume Disney is no exception) are for 4; the others take more planning.

D and I are going in January, and one of her friends & mom are considering coming, but haven't made specific plans. I've booked everything for 4 on the above theory, and if we end up sharing a 4 top with two strangers, that might be fun, too!

The only problem with changing it to 5 now is that for CRT you have to prepay the dinner which is not that cheap (I think I remember $65/person or so with tax and everything) and I'm not sure about refunding if canceled. Still hoping we'll hear soon that DS#2 IS coming!! This is his SECOND deployment to Iraq and by Dec., he'll have been there 8 months and will be ready for a leave!! Especially if there's a DISNEY trip!

First of all, Thank you all for your service. I will pray that your son can come home to celebrate the wedding with all of you. I would suggest that you keep trying to add him now, but remember to cancel if you get too close, a CC is required to secure his place. If you cannot, keep the ADR that you have and then either stop in or call CRT or have the concierge do it after you arrive. Explain the situation, Disney CM's are famous for their Magic so I would guess that under these circumstances they will try to move mountains in order to include your Son.

Why not call and explain the situation and ask for their advice? Ask to speak to a supervisor or manager - I think they'd have a soft spot for both the bridal couple and the military man! The worst that happens is they say no refunds and then you can decide.
