Hi folks!

I did some searching for this info on the forum, but I haven’t found an answer that is quite what I’m looking for yet.

Does anyone who has been on the Egypt journey have a sense of how much walking per day there is, *in terms of rough number of miles or kilometers* per day? Number of steps could be helpful info too!

I have some mobility limitations, but I am currently in treatment+getting physical therapy and one of my goals is to become active enough to eventually do this trip in a couple of years.

But I am not sure where to set my goal so that I know what to work up to and how to plan with my providers! Any help is much appreciated. :)

If I remember correctly, I routinely logged about 12,000-15,000 steps a day while on the ABD Egypt trip. Most of the walking was over flat areas. Some was over dirt and gravel. I don’t remember the Egyptian Museum having an elevator—it was multiple floors—so plan on being able to navigate steps/stairs also. Unless you plan to climb the inside of the pyramid, you’ll save steps there. You may have to navigate some steps on the Nile River Cruise boat and getting into the feluccas.

I hope this helps. Many of the historic sites we visited were very large, so there was a lot of walking. However, you can decide to do as much or as little as you want.

This is immensely helpful, thank you so much! Feeling hopeful. :)

I agree with @abdgeek and that seems about right in terms of steps. There are activities that some would find physically challenging, like going into the pyramids. Some places had steps and stairs to get where we were going. We did have a woman in our group who definitely had some mobility and physical limitations. There were some activities she had to opt out of but she seemed to participate in most things and looked like she was enjoying the trip.

We were on this terrific trip last February and had a disabled man with his son along to help him. He struggled in places like getting into the burial chamber of the great pyramid, but by and large he made it and participated in most everything. His son commented that the activities were so amazing, they distracted him from the effort required to see them. He did not participate in the red sea snorkeling but was along for the ride. Disney hit it out of the park with this one. Calypso and ABDGeek did a great job describing the trip - and it is everything and more that they say. My 72 year old wife did everything the half crawl into the pyramid. Good luck and good health! These don't get easier with age, so go while you can!

Thanks so much! Feeling encouraged. And totally agree - I want to try while I can!
