ABD and Chase Sapphire question

I think I'm planning to rely on my Chase card even though the trip will be more than that. I'm just going to make sure I pay the balance of both reservations (our family of four books two) on separate CSR cards. In other words, DH and DS will be "covered" on his card, and DD and me will be on mine.

Thank you!

Can you please tell - did you pay all the cost by Sapphire? Or just some amount?

The Chase rep on the phone told me that I didn't even need to charge all the trip to the card, just a portion of it.

And I read somewhere in written about "portion of the trip". but now I can't remember where I read it.

It's much more reliable to get such things in written. Who knows what and who said on the phone, you can't really use a phone call for a dispute.

Doesn’t their coverage only apply to the portion that you put on their card? i.e., if you only charge 1/6 to your Sapphier Reserve, they’ll only refund up to that amount; they wouldn’t cover the 5/6ths you put on Disney cards. Right?

As I just mentioned in my previous post - they would still cover up to 10000 for a person.

At least that's what the Chase rep told me on the phone.

My big problem with the Chase insurance is they don't cover pre-existing conditions. Unfortunately, I really need that coverage. So I likely will still buy outside insurance. But honestly, with the single supplement, my costs are going to go WAY over the $10,000 limit, so it's not really what I need. It's a shame.

I haven't paid any yet :) We put the deposits on a SPG Business card to finish a minimum spend. My understanding from pervious data points that i've seen is that it's good even if it's only a partial payment. One of the bloggers (points guy?) had something about it once. You might try googling?

If you want a written log, try secure messaging Chase through your online account. When they respond, you'll have your written reliability.

That doesn't work :) They just tell you to call the insurance department.

I do really like The Points Guy blog, and I got a lot of useful info from there. He does have topics about Chase insurance. But neither of them seem to mention an experience when he paid just portion of the trip with Chase card.

I remember - I read about portion of the trip in some official Chase document.

If I find it - i will come back here and post it.

I found it!

Page 13 of Chase Sapphire Preferred Guide (I don't know what page in Reserve guide - I didn't get it yet).

Thank you, everyone!

THE decision is made - we go with Sapphire :)

Hopefully we will never find out how good or bad their insurance is :)
