Hello DisBoards!

Have always wanted to go to Europe and was thinking ABD might be a wonderful way to do so. Has anyone every gone on ABD alone? Were there singles on your trips?

Thanks!

Welcome to the DISBoards and to the ABD Forum!

I've done 5 ABD's solo, including 3 trips to Europe! ABD is a *wonderful* way to do it. For so many reasons! For one thing, while you may be traveling "solo", you'll never be alone unless you want to be! The Guides make sure everyone is included, and the people on ABD's really tend to gel into a family-like unit, so you have people to do stuff with, people to look out for you, people to discuss the day's adventures with at dinner, etc. It's safer, too, because you have people expecting you to be at specific places at certain times, and if you don't make it, it will be noticed! For me, that's important when traveling solo. You do pay about 40% extra for the single supplement, but it's been so worth it to me. (And that's low for a single supplement in my experience).

I mostly do Adults Only trips, and on most of them there have been a few other singles there. I have never felt out of place as a solo on an ABD.

Let me know if you have any other questions about traveling solo with ABD. I'm a big fan of it!

I have done 3 ABD solo trips with the 4th one coming up in about a month. I love traveling and traveling solo I feel it is better to do a group tour, I also like ABD for when there is a language barrier issue. As sayhello said you do pay the solo supplement but it is mild compared to the double fare I have to pay on a cruise when I go solo.

I've done two ABD European trips solo(Med Cruise add-on and Greece) and I have Viva Italy booked for next year already as a solo trip. Europe is the only place I don't feel comfortable traveling solo, so going with ABD really puts me at ease. I don't do the adult only trips, so I'm usually the only solo person in my group. Even with that, I've never felt like an odd man out. The adults naturally bond together and you will have others that you can talk to and hang out with if you wish.

I was going to ask this same question! I would love to do an ABD trip however a lot of my family and friends can't take off during the year. I just saw Disney announce the Norway trip and I would love to go in 2014 but was nervous about booking it solo. Are there any groups on the ABD board that travel together?

Generally, unless someone notices on the Meets thread that others are taking that same trip, the answer is no. However, the DISBoards Podcast crew does do group ABD's. No idea if they'd be doing Norway any time soon, but you can check out the sub-Forum for the current trips, and keep an eye out for any future trips:

Also, I'll be creating a Meets thread for the Norway trip once we know any details (should be Oct 15th) and you could certainly post on there and see if anyone is interested in organizing (or joining you on) a group trip.
