ABC's series "Blackish" to film at WDW later this month...how does this affect things?

Only watched the show once, it seems like a nice comedy, but how will it affect things? My son is a professional actor who has had guest spots on shows, and the remote/non set shoots are pretty invasive, but I've bern at WDW when a Stacy video was being filmed and a commercial, and there was little disruption. But I can tell you that the shows that film in Chicago (Chicago Fire, Chicago Pd, Chicago Med, Empire) shut down whole blocks. Im wondering how it will affect fast passes, as the press release says they will film at all 4 parks, The Poly, and on rides. Anyone there when "The Middle" filmed a few years ago? Im usually not self centered, but this is our 25th wedding anniversary and like all Disnerds, I planned for months. I really love Diana Ross's daughter Tracee, who I think is full of sass, and the show seems like a good family show, but I am also concerned that it will affect the plans of all of us going 8/22-9/2.

Wow that is interesting.... I'm interested too since we will also be there then. I like the show so on one hand it would be neat to see this from afar, however on the other hand I hope my fastpasses aren't canceled. Hope someone has info....

We were there when The Middle was filming about a year or so ago. We saw the set up outside Space Mountain (and they filmed on the ride) and out by Guest Services at the entrance that evening. We had no idea they were there until we walked right by. Everything remains open and running. No real impact on the park. Good news is the actors are usually willing to pose for photos.

Interesting. We are there the last week of the month too.

Can you post the link to where you read this? I can't find any info this specific.

The press release says "later this month". This will be a one hour special, so an 8-10 day shoot. Jim Rasch, the dean from "Community" , is playing their VIP tour guide, as the dad wants to give the family a vip experience. I just hope its like "The Middle" and minimal disruption.

I cant get the links to work, but its on the Orlando Sentinel and Variety. Both articles come up in google searches.

I've seen a couple of things filmed, I was at MK when The Middle was filming the portion by the Partners statue. They closed off the hub area for the shoot for about 30 minutes. Also when they shot the portion coming into the park, they closed off one side of the tapstiles and a walkway, for about 30 minutes.
This past July Wheel of Fortune was filming at AK and they had Pat and Vanna by the Tree of Life, so they closed off the area closer to the tree by the macaws encounter for about 45 minutes.

Interesting. We are there very end of August into Labour Day. I'm hoping it wouldn't be too disruptive and it may actually be fun if you catch some filming in action. Anyone have the dates? I'm seeing only "later this month" and about a week and a half total.

We will be there too at the end of the month. This could be interesting to get a glimpse of and hoping it isn't too disruptive to the plans we have made. We enjoy that show!

Funny to think about it, but all the ABC shows do go to Disney. Loved the Middle show that was done there, hope this one is as funny. The actors in this show are so great, can't wait to see Tracee Ellis Ross managing her TV family through WDW. We're there from the 12-19, so we won't get to see it. We stumbled onto the set of Elf when it was being filmed in NYC, and that was so cool to see. It's always interesting to see how things are made.

I will be there too during this time so I'm curious as well to know how this will affect things in the parks. I am a huge fan of the show & would love to catch a glimpse of them while filming!

I'm interested too! Will we miss it?? Our last night is the 22nd, check out on the 23rd. I've never seen anything being filmed & while I've never seen the show, I bet it'd be cool to watch a show being filmed and /or get pics with celebrity if possible!
Only if it didn't disrupt the vacation though! :)

Truly, I think for the most part you won't even notice unless you happen to walk by the area where they are filming, and specifically make point of stopping to try and watch.

If they close off an area, I'm sure the CM's will offer a clearly marked path around the area that is closed. If you are very lucky, you'll get a bit of a unique photo op.

If you go regularly, then I don't know why you'd see this in any kind of negative light. You have a slim opportunity to see something unusual, unique and different.

Personally, if I saw any bit of the filming, I'd consider it a fun bonus; a way to make your special trip a bit unique. I wouldn't be wringing my hands over it.
