The Commissary wasn't too bad, and had more options than your average burger and chicken strips....try the veggie stir fry.

I think ABC commissary is marginally better & it's air conditioned.

Backlot Express's food is unappetizing (think very limp celery - eww) but, it's well-themed.

if you can swing it, I'd go to mama melrose's for lunch instead. can't recommend either of these places

We ate at ABC in June and I was not impressed.

It was packed, very noisy and tables were not
cleaned as fast as they could have been.

It was the longest food line we waited in.

Same burgers and fries as every other CS.

My son and I had the veggie stir fry and
neither of us cared for it.

ABC Comm is our least favorite CS in all of WDW. Backlot is okay. We really like the Pizza Planet's pizza and salad meal.

Backlot is outside seating, right?

I like ABC because it's air conditioned. When we went, there was no line and plenty of empty booths. We enjoyed it. It's not high cuisine, it's chicken fingers, fries, stuff like that, but it was good. :) We like CS because we like to get in, get out, and get on more rides. :)

We ate at ABC Commissary on July 11. All 5 of us enjoyed our food. I had the vegetarian wrap (I cant' remember exactly what the filling was) which came with a side of black bean salad; both were excellent. DH had a burger which he liked. The kids got chicken and one got fish. All loved their food. We arrived at about 11:15 and the place was nearly empty; service was also fast and efficient and among the most pleasant of the CS places we visited during our trip.

The one thing: we sat near a life size cardboard cut out of George Lopez who stared at us throughout the meal...both DH and I did more than one double-take thinking some guy was encroaching upon us. :confused3

Have to agree here. We ate at the Commissary this passed July and had the same experience. Lots of empty tables , but none of them were cleaned. My DD had the cuban sandwich and it was okay. Hubby and I had burgers , we couldn't eat them as they had a funny taste. I would reccommend Pizza planet or 50's Prime time Diner

We ate at both this past Dec. ABC was the worst CS food we've had at WDW period. I don't know how a restaurant can make a burger that inedible, but they did. We saw a lot of people throwing away trays of uneaten food and others just getting up and leaving it on the tables. Maybe that's why the tables all need to be cleaned.

Backlot was slightly better, but that's not really saying much. In Oct we plan to avoid CS in MGM all together. We have ADR's for lunch at Brown Derby and SCi-Fi.

Backlot has indoor AND outside seating - some folks confuse it with Studio Catering which is all outdoors. We found the food at Backlot to be just fine, for burgers and fries...reminds me of Pecos Bills at MK. ABC Commissary is absolutely the worst food I have ever eaten (or should I say, not eaten) on Disney property.

We haven't been to the ABC Comissary, but the backlot's salad was pretty good (it's a sesame chicken salad, with mandarins and lo-mein noodles)... but my fiance said the burger was not great. It wasn't bad, but was the worst of the WDW burgers he's had... We will probably go back in October and both of us would get the salad :rolleyes1 ...

We've had lunch at Back Lot a couple of times. We always eat inside, and the food has always been pretty good. Typical counter service stuff.

Another CS in MGM is Starring Rolls. They have really good, but limited variety, lunch food. The portions are fairly large, and the pastries are also tasty. :thumbsup2 It's one of our favorite "secret-good-places-to eat-in-MGM".................oops! :ssst:
