What do you all think the impact of primetime ABC shows on the web will be? I've taken to watching whatever is up against something else on line. The only exception is Lost. I figure resolution is important there.

Just figured I'd put up a non park related post. Since Eisner's been gone there've been so few of them.

I'm not sure about ABC in particular, but generally speaking, I know quite a few people who are watching online now. Most of the people I know are watching Monday Night Football and then watching Heroes (NBC) online. I don't see why it would last too long. I think a majority of people who have such busy tv schedules already have some sort of DVR system...

I don't have a DVR or TIVO yet. I still have to use a VCR. :rotfl: I know. I'm living in the dark ages. If I have to miss a show for some reason, I love being able to go online to abc.com and watch it. I had set up my VCR to tape last Thursday but for some reason it messed up. I was so glad I could go online to watch. I don't think having the shows online will mess up the numbers too bad. (But then I could be wrong.) Personally, I'd rather watch on TV than online. Having the shows online is a great back-up, though.

You're not the only one. We still use a VCR too.

I prefer to watch a show on TV, but realized how convenient it was that ABC has their shows online when I caught an episode of Six Degrees and was interested to see the previous shows.

ha, you think you're in the dark ages, I have a vcr, but can't tape because it's just fuzz without CABLE... when I miss a show I just have to wait till they show it again

I dont think that it will have a negative impact -- I know that I always watch the shows when they air (because I can't miss out) and then always go back to watch online to see things l missed, especially for LOST. I love that they offer this -- I think it is great. Easy to use and very few commercials...

I think its ironic that the quality of TV shows in general seems to be inversely related to the availability of the shows. As TV shows get worse, they are giving us more ways to watch them!

I don't think it will have a big impact on ratings. There's probably some who will watch online instead of watching on TV. But there will also be some who will be able to keep up with the shows only because they were able to watch online, and they will consequently still watch on TV sometimes.

Do they show ads on the online versions? If so, can they be skipped?

They show the same ad a few times throughout the show. And you aren't able to skip it.

raidermatt, you should watch a show online. I think you will be surprised with how easy it is. And yes, they show ads online but they are only three 30 sec commercials and you can watch them all at the begging to get them over with and then you can watch the whole show uninterrupted. I seriously thought it was going to be a pain and it has not been at all.

Thanks to ABC.com I will be watching last weeks episdoe of Six Degrees :)
