We're going to WDW Nov 26th - Dec 4. Info Central says that the ABC Christmas Day Parade taping is Dec 1 -3. What is this and what impact, if any, does it have on the MK (e.g., restricted areas, increased crowds, etc.).

Thanks for any info/advice. :)

Once you get past Main Street and the castle stage area...
you'll have a great day!

how many days does it take for them to tape it if anyone knows :confused3

also would that mean the crane would be gone if it isn't already?

That would be Dec. 1 and 2, with Dec. 3 as a "back-up" in case of problems and/or poor weather.

The crane should either be gone or hidden from sight for the parade taping. They will make sure that it doesn't get in any of the castle shots that they have.

last year I happened to be at MK (had no idea they were doing this) on the day they were taping.

If I remember correctly, if you were not going to the taping of the parade, you were directed to the right side entrance. I think they let parade guests in early on the left side. Once you got past the mob scene on Main St, the ride areas had very low crowds untill the taping was over. The parade takes a long time with, it seemed like, long breaks between floats and such. Just avoid Main Street Hub when you are crossing the park. Once the parade ended, of course, everything changed, but I don't think that was until about 1pm at least.

It ended up being a perfect day to tour MK.

The actual parade taping is done primarily on Sat, with Sunday as a back up. Friday is spent taping various specialty acts around MK. I was there for Friday's taping last year. Yes, there were more people in the park, but it didn't seem to impact the attractions. Most people got tired of standing around, in one place, after about 3 hrs, so there were no huge crowd scenes after about 11 or so.
Sat can be crowded to begin with. Then, you add all the locals that come in, the parade taping people....yes, it gets zooey. But, the attractions aren't too crowded until mid-afternoonish. You just have to steer clear of Main St and the other areas they are parade taping at.
Have to say I am glad I'm missing the whole thing this year...going the following week.
