Abbreviation Question

I enjoy reading everyone's trip reports and I feel somewhat stupid asking this question:

I noticed that when people write about a family member they are written as DH, DD, DW etc. Could someone please explain these abbreviations to me?

It is Darling Husband, Darling Daughter, etc...when my DH first read them he thought it was divorced husband...

The "D" can stand for: dear, darling, Disney, or as I thought when I was new to the boards - designated!!
