The constant use of abbreviations keeps me coming back to the Sticky with the list (MNSSHP is one I've finally memorized). However, a thread has three abbreviations that are not on the list:
DFB
FLE
UG
Do these really mean anything? Why aren't they on the list? What's wrong with using real words?
(Whimper)

None of them look familiar to moi either. I keep getting confused over the hotel and restaurant abbreviations too, but after muddling through I usually figure them out, or just read blindly on. :confused3

Oh gosh! I thought I was the only one.

Me, I prefer to type things out most of the time.

Do you have links to posts with those used? I can take a look at them and see if I can help.

I believe FLE references the Fantasyland expansion and UG is for the Unofficial Guide to WDW, but I don't know what DFB might stand for.

I can't help with the abbreviations but I have to agree. Can't people type whole words? Sometimes I just give up when reading posts because I have no idea what the multiple abbreviations mean! Obviously hotel abbreviations make sense, and MVMCP works since it's so long to type, but some of them are too much.

Nope, don't recognize those either, maybe if we read the rest of the comment we could figure it out.

It's good to know I;m not the only one who has trouble with abbreviations.
That FLE = "Fantasyland Expansion" makes sense, as does UG = "Unofficial Guide."

The abbreviations are found in the thread, "Why oh Why do we do this," on the main DIS page. It has to do with the urge to buy Disney guide books, to which I can relate.

You're not at ALL the only ones. Some of the long acronyms -- MNSSHP for instance -- I can understand, because that's a long phrase. But I think that some of the shorter ones are for no reason than to show "insidership" (Is that a word? It is now!)

I usually take a second to see if I can figure it out, and when I can't, I just read on happily. It usually makes absolutely no difference what the person is actually talking about, unless you're planning a trip and might want to know just which ride or restaurant has been randomly bursting into flame or been overrun by ravening herds of jackalopes.

Oh, I think I saw the DFB acronym myself. I think it's either "Dear Fancy Boy", in which case it's much more information than we really needed, or it's a typo of DBF -- "Dear Boy Friend."

I don't know what "DFB" is either. The others have been explained. It makes me mad sometimes when posters get too lazy to write out what they mean...this isn't texting on a phone. :sad2:

Some people also use DBF for Dear Best Friend. There are some that you really have to look at context or even ask.
DSIL = Son in law OR Sister in law
DN = Dear Niece OR Nephew
DF- Dear Fiance or Dear Father
and others. . .
