Arrived at the Fort, 5pm 12/30, had done early check in, took 50 minutes to get in the gate.. Since we have a person with disabilities with us, they gave us site 515, right next to the Comfort Station. (Lots of pedestrian traffic, kids, dogs etc, all hours).. Got a golf cart from Kenny at T-Time, was a really great experience. We definately recommend them. We watched the New Years fireworks from the beach tonight, was NOT crowded (they are doing New Years fireworks for two nights) was a really good fireworks show..
12/31 Since we did not get reservations for our dog and the kennel was full, DW and DN hit the parks in ernest, Chubs and I walked around, and hit the Dog Park (very nice!!) Chubs loved all the other pups to play with..
1/1 thru 1/6 Actually was pretty much duplicates of the 12/31 day, I hung out with Chubs, they hit the parks..
1/7 Checked Chubs into the Kennels at FW, the people there seemed like they really cared, Chubs didnt seem to mind very much staying there, his report card was very good when we got him back..
Synopsis: Visiting Disney at this time of year is not for the faint of heart, I doubt we will come back at this time of year, the parks are crowded, wait times for rides can exceed 2 hours (??) and did I mentions the parks are full? We will however return to Fort Wilderness, but the cost for camping there is not very cost effective, but with 8 dollar turkey legs, the camping rate seems in line, although extremely inflated. I do know why Disney charges so much to camp, we are willing to pay it. Overall, we did have a good time, even though we only had 2 really nice (warm) days.
