THanks for the info

There have been several posts on this lately. I think it's pretty much split 50/50 and will be based on your personal preference. I haven't stayed in the mansions but we LOVE AB. We just recently stayed in bldg 16. A definite con about AB is the lack of elevators. I think I've read that the mansions do have them... so if that's an important feature that may help you decide. I just love the surroundings in the AB and we always ask for a room there.

I have only stayed at the AB and would definitely recommend it if you have a little one or more than 4 to a room. The trundle bed was actually intented for my 4 year old but was used by my very tall 10 year old. She loved it. The surroundings are peaceful and wooded. The pool is very nice. I loved the food court. Great choices and quality food. Magnolia looks nice as well just not as much sleeping choices.

The other consideration is what you want in terms of proximity to the food court, bus stops, etc. We stayed in the mansions a couple of years ago. The landscaping was beautiful, the elevator to our room was a godsend, and the walk to the food court seemed reasonable. Take a look at the map and see what works best for you.

What building in AB do you request? I would like non smoking and close to the food court :confused3

We were in AB bldg 16 and it was quiet, non smoking, reasonably close and had a private pool with laundry right around the corner in the court yard area. We LOVED it!

We just returned from POR and stayed in AB Bldg 18 and loved it. AB 18 is the closest non smoking building to the food court and lobby. But 15 thru 17 are close too.

We really enjoy the more formal decor and beautiful gardens of MB. If you want to be close to the main bldg I would suggest Parterre Place or Oak Manor. Our experience has found them a little quieter too.

I've only stayed once, but I preferred the Magnolia Bend aka "mansions" over the AB section. We had a nice quiet room in Parterre Place.

If we stay there again, I'll request the mansion side again!

The mansions are beautiful. They were recently renovated. They landscaping is beautiful with nice green lawns and paths that follow the river. It gives a nice sunny appearance. AB seems to be a bit darker in appearance, more trees, shade etc. Acadia house or Oak Manor are good locations near the bridge to cross over to the main pool and food court. :thewave:

I am a mansion girl for sure!!! I did not like the Bayou side at all too dark!! I love Magnolia terrace!! :flower:
