O.k, I have been surfing the forum threads and I come upon people inquiring about Easter 2011. We have decided that we would go the wk before Easter and stay til the Easter Thurs and then move onto the Gulf Coast. I was trying to rationalize this all out, thinking that most states are done at the middle to end of May so why put a holiday then, and I even contacted Florida Tourism about their Easter holidays. The state doesn't have any around Easter. That sounds good...correct? But, the other Eastern states such as Maine, Rhode Island (don't know where that is) and other ones DO have their Easter break at that time and people are :scared1: me that this will be terrible time to go. So, now we are looking at maybe shoving our holidays back one wk, and fly out Easter Sat, do the basics for Easter Sunday and then go to WDW that wk and then the Gulf coast the wk afterwards. This last option is not a good one for our buisness though. What should we do??? I am sooooo :confused3 Please help me to think this through more.

Many many thanks:flower3:

I think Easter any year is going to be a busy time to go, no matter when it falls. My understanding is that it's the 2nd busiest, next to Christmas week?? I've been combing the threads on this topic also since we are planning to go the first week of May 2011 for my DH Birthday. Something else I have gathered from most of the threads is that most of the Spring Breaks aren't according to the Easter Holiday, they are according to a specific week (1st, 2nd, etc) in April. I do think pushing your vacation 1 week and flying out Easter Sat and doing Disney that week would be less busy than the week prior to Easter. The weekend will be crazy busy, but my understand the last week of April most of the spring breaks are over by then. Can you go to the Gulf Coast first then go to Disney??

crazyfordisney:We have thought about doing the Gulf coast first but our kids will be 5 and 9 at the time and trying to convince them that we will do Disney later, might be difficult. We might have to have one or two nights at Disney, move to the Gulf coast and then come back after Easter....what do you think of that one? Would 2 days at Disney satisfy them enough? Hmm, that might be good because then we could still get the free shuttle, rent a car at Disney, and then come back to finish it up later. What do you think the Gulf coast would be like during that time? Atleast Florida doesn't have their holidays then, thankgoodness. Thanks for the reply. YOu got me thinking.....
Thanks again everyone!

I contacted Fairy Tale Dreams and the woman kinda "poo poo" me. This is our buisness and we have to make decisions now and not 6 mths before we leave. I might go with a different agency based upon her answer. What would you do????

Thanks again everyone!

The fact of the matter is - despite you wanting to make decisions now, you can't book your package with Disney for 2011 yet. You can book a room only reservation right now, but then you would have to cancel it and then book a package (if you want dining, etc...) once they are available.

From reading your posts, you gotta calm down - you're going to Walt Disney World and Florida with your family and that's excellent. Yes, it's going to be busy over Easter. Big deal? It's busy during the summer and Christmas and March Break, but it doesn't stop people from going on holiday. Do what's best for your business and your family and have fun!

I'm sorry, but I don't know what "poo poo" means. Can you elaborate?

What did she say? What was her response that has you so upset? :confused3

Sorry I sound abit stressed over this everyone!!! We have a buisness and I have hubby trying to get me to make some decisions even before the packages come out. So, I have to try to look into a crystal ball to figure things out so we know when to book time off. This is very important to us. Taking a holiday isn't easy for us (we aren't taking one this yr) So, this is why I am in a panick. If I don't figure these days out, he will book us and then we can't go. We want to go to other places too and I will book them as soon as I can in April-even if the packages aren't out. If I have to juggle things around, then that's what I will have to do. This is why I find that Disney is soooo frustrating. So gotta figure out if we believe Disney will be more busy teh wk before Easter, and pull my son out then, or take him out of school the first few days in May etc. It is important to us. We will be working on the computer anyways when we are away as it is. Vacations aren't easy to come by for us so I want to plan ahead and make it memorable. Sorry everyone.

I'm sorry, but you didn't answer my question. You have me really curious now as to what your TA said that bothered you so much. :sad1:

Vacations aren't easy for any of us and I totally agree that it's hard to look into a crystal ball!

Just pick your week. Honestly, block the time and say "This is our vacation week in April 2011." That just might be the only way you can do it! And you have this much time to plan around it. Then when the packages come out this summer for pricing and book it, you can jump on it. You'll know exactly what you want.

Does it honestly matter that the wait at Test Track might be 35 minutes as opposed to 30 minutes one week? Nope! You're at Walt Disney World! Soak it in!!! You're going to have the time of your life no matter what week you go.

I would just like to say, that I have seen so many people on the DIS (not in this part of the forum, see Theme Parks and Resorts) who completely overplan their trip to Walt Disney World. By that I mean they change their resort they have booked 3 times based on other's opinions. Or my favourite - there was once a discussion in the Theme Park section about how they had drained the water around the castle for refurbishments and the outcry from people was astounding - how it would ruin their child's dreams!!! Honestly, you never would have known to see it if you hadn't read it on here. And it's not like it would have looked like a dried up moot or anything or there would be scaffolding anywhere.

So relax. It's your vacation. Do what works for you. Pull your kid out of school, you only live once!

It seems to me like you are being quite negative towards this travel agency because they weren't able to look into THEIR crystal ball and give you information that isn't available to ANYONE yet. Seems unfair to me. All it takes is one person to put an unfair negative spin on something and a persons reputation is ruined. You should be more careful BEFORE you name names.

Not wanting to be argumentative - just worry about things going the wrong way unnecessarily :)

Sorry, I've edited mine now. BTW, I didn't say that I didn't like her at all. Giving me some type of stats or ideas from previous years would have been benificial to me , that is all. I'll keep my mouth shut now.

Thankyou to all that have responded.

You said maybe split it up - Disney a couple days, then Gulf coast then Disney, hmmm sounds like more travelling than necessary IMHO. But as a PP said, just do what will work best for you. :) I've never been to the Coast and have no idea about when a good time to go would be. My kids are 8 and 6 now. I do know if I prepared them now (you have a year) and told them we are going on a vacation next year and this is what we are doing, Gulf Coast first then Disney, they would be totally OK with this. Most kids adapt, especially if they know "the plan". But you know your kids best, goodness knows they're all different.

Something else, if you can move it into May, I would. But, if this is not doable, just go prepared. Make sure you hit the parks at rope drop and utilize fastpass, when the crowds get too much, go back to your resort to swim. PLAN with flexibility:) Relax, enjoy, rope drop, fast pass, you will be fine!!:goodvibes
