I need to let out a primal scream! AARRRGGGHHH!
Much Better.
Today was the day from beyond at work. As some of you know, I am a assistant for about 12 special needs students in my local districts middle school.
Today, Friday, the science class was out of control. We had a substitute that REALLY didn't know what to do. It was crazy, putting out one fire after another... conflicts, fights, kids not sitting down, you name it, it happened.
There was one kid, that hit another kid. Then I told him to sit down because the sub was trying to teach. He refused. I said sit down or you go to principals.. (this was after three warnings!)
This was a "regular" class, not a pull out class, so this was not one of my "special needs" kids.
I said to him, we are going for a walk... (to the principals).. he ran away and tried to go back to class THREE times.. I then had to hook his arm with mine and walk to the office/guidance department.
The whole time he was being a victim... I didn't do anything, I was just playing, etc... mind you this student is about my height, and maybe 185/200 lbs... bigger than me!
I was called every name in the book, in different languages... and when I got back to class I got booed at by some of his 'friends" in the class.
My hands were still shaking an hour later! I took this job to see the good, bad and ugly of teaching.. to see if I really want to finish out my schooling for it.
I've had some really great days.. just today it was challenging.
