I have Verizon Wireless and while I LOVE the network, this problem is about to make me lose my mind and run to another carrier.

I am on BlackBerry Curve number SIX. I started out in Oct. 2008 with the original curve and it lasted for about a year until the USB port went out and it wouldn't take a charge anymore (or connect to anything else for that matter). Well, they replaced it with another Curve which after only a month or two starts freezing up all the time. So that one goes back. The replacement has a keypad that stops working, as does the next one. That's 4. So they replace #4 with a Curve 2 (8530) and I think it will all be fine. That's a pretty new model phone, I can hold off upgrading for a while, right? Apparently not.

One morning at work I notice that my phone got really warm. I thought it might be next to something warm so I moved it and didn't think much of it. 5 minutes later, it was DEAD. So when they ship a replacement to me TWO DAYS later, it's another Curve 2. This was a week ago. I woke up (unintentionally) at 5:30 this morning and when I tried to grab my phone to check the time, it was HOT. REALLY hot. I took the battery out and left it alone for about 4 hours and when I put it back together: 1.)It hadn't charged at all and 2.)it got hot AGAIN even when it wasn't connected to a power source or anything else.

I'm really holding out for the iPhone - DH and I will settle for Droids if we don't hear an announcement by January or so. I know we are due for an upgrade, but this is a new enough model phone that we shouldn't be FORCED to upgrade. I think a LOT of Verizon customers are doing the same thing right now. But I'll be darned if I am going to be strong-armed into upgrading.

I'm going to try my hardest to get them to give me at least a different model phone because this is RIDICULOUS. When you keep giving someone refurbished phones, those phones were probably returned for some of the same reasons! Duh.

Anyone else have awful luck with these phones?

Sounds like you got one on my DH's old Curve. :rotfl2: Seriously he went through 4 phones in 5 months for a whole host of problems. He finally got one that worked more than a week or two (knocking on wood);)

I got one at the same time and never had a problem with it.:)

Like you, I am also waiting for the iphone to come to Verizon.

Good luck!

We use the blackberry curves at work....I don't have an assigned company phone....but coworkers have a variety of i-Phones, and droids too. It just seems that everyone with a smart phone is upset at something. I've had the same "dumb" phone for 6 years and I see to be the only one happy with my phone.

After many issues with my Curve, our local Verizon guy let me pick out a comparable priced phone (only had the Curve for about 4 months). I got a Droid X and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love my curve. I've had it for almost 2 years with no problems. I hope you get a phone that works for you soon.
