Aaaa

I'm going on my first cruise w my children this dec. I figure while they're in the kids club I can either go to the gym or relax by the pool. My daughter will prop stay awhile, I am hoping my son will at least stay 2 hrs. I will let you know when I get back.

I spent LOTS of time in the spa...facials, massages, rain forest room...adults only pool and hot tub! Nice peaceful movie, food demonstration.....

Well, I just got back from that scenario and had a great time. My son pretty much vetoed the kid's club (he's five). We tried it a couple days and he missed mom--so he was with me quite a bit, however, I did get some alone time when he hung out with his grandma. I spent a couple days lounging in the adult only jacuzzi and having some peaceful walks around the deck. It was my first cruise and I adored the experience of watching the ocean from the deck and feeling all the wind. I watched part of a movie once and went to Palo's--the adult only restaurant--on three occasions. Palo's was great and a waiter invited me to the restaurant to have the chocolate souffle even though I didn't get dinner (nor had reservations). Thereupon, the wait staff treated me like a princess. You will love it! princess:

I am a DD and went on the 04/04/04 4day cruise (neet date huh?) with my DS 15 and DD 12...they were old enough for the most part to be off on their own, or for DD in the club till bedtime. In the Navigator, they list singles events. I went to a couple of them and was the only one to show up. It would have been nice to have met a lady to go dancing with or go to the clubs with but just did not happen...so I spent time in the clubs, had a couple drinks and watch the couples do their thing. Towards the end of the cruise I had this brainstorm to look at photos at Shutters to see pictures of single ladies with their children. By the time I had this idea, it was to late to arrange anything..ie meet...Would be nice to have a DIS link for single cruisers who would like to meet up while on board....At any rate...it was still a great time...

So funny...on the Thanksgiving cruise I went to one of the singles events listed and there were six women and no men! I had a great time talking to the other single women and making friends on the cruise in general at the event. They were all great people to talk to. One staff member went to the lunch and he was male, very amicable young guy. A link for single cruisers is a great idea!

Better yet...lets hit Disney up to have a singles cruise...!!!

I have been on 2 4 day Wonder cruises with my DD and we have had a great time together. :flower1: Of course both times I had other friends and their Kids and my Aunt and Uncle once. Still it was DD and I booked alone in our room.

I think it really helps if you can get a couple friends to go with Kids that our around your childs age. That helped with the clubs and then us girls had time to go check out the adult area's of the ship. :boat:

My best friend and I put our kids in the Castaway club after lunch to do the Whale bone dig together and then we got 2 hours at Serenity Bay!!! OMG!
The most beautiful place I have ever seen!!!! ::yes:: Nothing like sitting on that uncrowded beach listening to Jimmy Buffet and having a Konk Cooler! I think I spelled that right???? Anyway it was heaven!!

I have two more booked with DD,but hope that I have a special person to add if things keep going the way they are today!!!
This time we are doing the 7 day on the Magic and of course I have other girlfriends already talked into booking with their kids. I think we have 10 so far!!!

Thanks for the replies :) Sounds like it would be okay to cruise alone. I could always try to get my sister and her family to go too!! But YIKES! I didn't realize how expensive it was for the 7 day cruise. Of course being just one adult, DS would have to pay the adult price. Do they ever have specials?

That is the problem I run into when I book just DD and I. That is why I book so far in advance so that gives me plenty of time to pay. :D
Try MouseEarsVacations. They got me in on a group rate for the 10-15-05 Eastern and it knocked a $100 bucks off the price. I know I could cruise cheaper on other lines, but I just feel Disney is so worth it and DD loves it. Plus I do have time to myself and I can think of no other vacation where I get that. :flower1:
I think I am paying $1700 for DD and I for a Cat 10 Secret Porthole room on the 7 day 10-15-05. If I get a 3rd person too book with me then it drops DD's price to $440. That would save me a bit. We will see!! I still have plenty of time.

P.S. I am trying RCCL this Jan with a girlfriend and no kids. I will see how I like it compared to Disney.....

How are you getting it so cheap? I wanted to go in the spring, but it was over $3,000 so I tried October and November.

I just pulled up a quote for those dates for one adult and one child and I got:

Category 10: Deluxe Inside Stateroom
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$2,392.26

Summer,

I just sent you a private message...Check it out and I hope this helps...

Let me know?

A singles cruise would be a great idea! I have the same trouble....lots of single, few single men! Where are they all???? lol

I am all for a singles cruise. I was there with DS 12 and DS 8 in April and just did a lot of relaxing. Oh, and I played too much BINGO!!!!!1

I am taking my son on our first REAL vacation and we have decided on a Disney cruise with several side trips to other attractions.

My son will turn 13 the last day of the cruise, so I fully expect to be alone, while the "man" of the house has his own fun.

I figure this will be a good time to just relax and enjoy the fact that my son is willing to even be seen with his "old mom".

I don't drink and don't really like the bar scene...will I be completely lost?

You will NOT be completely lost, just relax check the daily navigators and chart your course, because your son will definitely chart his! I even went and walked around the Bahamas all on my own.

I am a single Mom on one little princess: and I like to have a fru fru drink now and then, but never visited any of the night clubs either trip..... You will have a great time...Very family...Heck I remember some nights going up to Deck 9 for the buffet and music playing and the decks almost empty by 11:00pm. I think with so many families with kids you get worn out all day in the sun and it is hard to stay up late... There is just so much to do and not do... I loved laying out by the Mickey Pool and relaxing while my little one swam and played on the slide. :cool1:

The Spa was also wondeful!! Make sure you go to Palo atleast once! Loved it.
I am going on my first trip without DD next Wed..... :guilty: RCCL Enchantment of the Seas. Excited to try a new line...Girl trip only...I don't feel to awful bad cause DD and I are booked on the MAGIC for October!!! Can't wait! Have fun! :jumping4:

I'm a single mom getting ready for our first cruise(Wonder 4 day). DS (9) has informed me he wants to spend some time in the clubs...he told me I can go play in the Spa during that time! LOL I plan on getting a massage, and just chillin out in the sun by the ADULT pool, and having a drink or too!!! He will eat dinner with me and go to the shows, so it will be OK to have a little quiet time in the afternoon!!! If for some reason he doesnt enjoy the clubs...i'll just hang out by the family pool instead!
