Generally yes they are, for rack rate. Once Disney comes out with a special promo, which seems like almost always, the WDW rate becomes cheaper and trying to get AAA to change your ressie to use the Disney code is not easy (but doable). Disney Travel wont even talk to you once you've booked through an agent.

I learned the very hard way to always book through Disney. It took days to get my agent to call Disney to change to their promo and unfortunately there were no longer any rooms left for the promo rate at the resort I was originally booked. I had to pick another resort (or pay rack rate) and that, in turn, seperated my family into 2 resorts. Nice family vacation! (But I saved over $1500!!)

can you still get a AAA discount when booking thru Disney?

I thought I read it before somewhere on the boards

I have to clear cobwebs in my brain to remember the answer...but, I THINK....you can book a room only ressie through Disney travel and get a AAA discount, but to book a package, you have to go through AAA.

Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong!

I don't know about the room only reservation, but I was told by a CM that in order to get the AAA rate for a package, I needed to book through AAA (which I did). I have a great agent though (I've booked through her before, but for cruises and all inclusives) and she gets me anything I need. Plus, I am glad for the seating for Wishes (I have a reservation for it!).

On room only reservations, you can get a AAA rate booking directly throught Disney. Also, I have received a AAA discount on room only reservations through my DU travel agent.

I just called disney directly yesterday and got the AAA rate applied to my room only reservation. You only need to have your AAA card number when you call. It was 15% off the regular rack rates. The rooms and resorts available are limited so you may have to change room type or resorts to get the discount. I'm hoping Disney will come out with a better discount later, but for now it's better than nothing.
