If I want to use a AAA discount, do I have to book through AAA directly, or can I call Disney directly and let them know I am a AAA member. Thanks in advance.

You can book a room with an AAA discount thru WDW, but you can not get a discounted package.

Price your vacation several different ways (i.e. with the AAA discount and without, with various special offers and without). In past trips I have used the AAA discount to my advantage, however found that my December trip it was cheaper to not use the AAA discount. Shop around to see what option saves you the most $$ so that you can spend more in the parks :cool1:

We have our trip for next Aug. booked through AAA since it is the only discount out there now. If something better comes along my agent just calls and changes the reservation to the new discount.

Room only with AAA discount: book through Disney or any travel agent.

Package with AAA discount on the room portion: book through a AAA agent only.

Does AAA travel agency charge any fees? Have never used an agent before so don't really know what to expect from one.

You just have to be a AAA member. If you sign up for membership, it's good for a year and you also get the road service and other discount benefits with it. You can book your trip there if you are not a member without a fee, but then you would not get the AAA discount. They do charge service fees for booking flights for non-members, but you can do your own flights to avoid this.

We've booked with CAA room discount till WDW comes out with a discount, which always beats CAA/AAA.

If I go thru a TA, it is a WDW Authorized Travel Planner. The reason is that they know Disney Booking. And they know when WDW comes out with discounts, and will automatically adjust your reservation. They do all the work. They'll also make your ADRs if you want.

Many AAA agents don't track WDW discounts, so it would be up to you to do, then phone them and request the change. I don't see the point, booking with AAA, since it's you having to do the work. Just saying...

Since AAA and Disney are preferred partners, AAA is assigned a regional Disney rep to convey updates, new promos, etc. The rep either emails, conference calls or visits quarterly (sometimes monthly) to inform the agents. So the agents do get informed, but depending on how busy they are and how organized they are, they may not react. I used to work at AAA and know how awful the Disney commission is, so the agents who book international travel may focus more on that and worry less about their Disney bookings. I would recommend anyone going to AAA to book to get a domestic only agent because he or she doesn't have many other big commission vacations to worry about.
