Aaa

It has been a lifesaver more times than I can count over the 20 years I have been a member. Aside from the discounts, the map services and trip planning help they provide has been incredible. And, when we go to Europe, we can get international driver's licenses through them easy as can be. For when my kids start driving, it will also provide additional peace of mind knowing they are covered for emergencies.

After driving a van with keyless entry on it for so long... AAA was really needed that first year of driving the truck with no keyless entry.

We even managed to lock the keys in the truck twice during the same weekend while staying at Ft Wilderness... You know how crazy that is?? And Gary's (disney security will call them to pop any locks, and so will AAA) cost 40$ a visit to pop a lock.

And the other nice thing, is it travels with the person, not the vehicle. So if you're in a rental car or a friend's car or whatever, you're covered.

It has been worth it to us. We feel better with it since the kids are out of town at school with cars. It's some piece of mind.

We've been members for over 20 years and love AAA. Most years we haven't even needed their services for the cars, but those few times we did it is well worth it.

When oldest DD started driving we signed her up as well, and now it's become the running joke each Christmas because we continue to pay her yearly fee and give her the card as a gift. I try and wrap it so she won't know which one it is, but she always does. Every year since she moved out we have gotten at least 1 or 2 calls a year that starts out with "thanks Mom, just used my Christmas present again". She has blown tires on the interstate, ran out of gas, locked her keys in the car and hit a deer and always had great service from AAA. I think she has gotten a lot more use of it in these past few years than we have the entire 20 some years we've had it.

I need to remember to ask for the AAA discount more often, I always forget which places take it. They should make a handy card for your wallet listing them all.

Yes, I forgot about the free maps - those are great. I have used the Travel Books/planners but the information is usually too broad. Sometimes they have maps of cities in them though.

We have been AAA members on & off. I know it's about the only discount I can get at Lenscrafters & that alone was more than the membership fee.

We don't drive a ton (mostly local) but if we know we will be having several trips planned/coming up, we get the membership. I have had my current one for about 2 years now because I knew we would be traveling to an out of state wedding plus Disney coming up. We used the discount on the hotel, got the Triptiks (which I LOVE - I like having hard copy maps) & TourGuide books, etc...

We too have had AAA for yrs AAA+ because we travel a lot an RVAAA for the harleys, as our DD's started driving AAA + for them too

It has more than paid off most every yr for us the 1st yr DD#2 got AAA for Christmas she was on her way back to school 80 miles from home her car threw a rod...that tow alone paid for the whole familys AAA that yr.

There have been times when we had to wait awhile on tow truck once on 1 of the harleys we ran over screw in road immediate flat. We was in the middle of no where 90 miles from home late on a Saturday night no way to get new tire till Monday AAA truck had a hard time finding us that time an we was out there along the hwy for about 3 hours....actually sitting in someones front yard so we could actually be off road.

We have used the discounts too but mostly for towing, don't think we'd ever come out ahead with just the discounts.

Both my DH and I have AAA and I love it. The hotel discounts are good but there are other uses. First, they will get you into a car when you locked your keys in it. Second, they will jump your battery even if it's in your garage and it's dead because your kids left the lights on all night. Third, each member card gets 3 tows so together my DH and I get 6. Fourth, it works on any car you are with so my DH has been with friends whose cars have died and they were able to use his card to get himself and his friend towed to a garage local to us.

If you are a new member hold out for good discounts on membership and look before you buy, they have some good deals I can't use because I'm not new.

I would never NOT be a member of AAA. It is worth it for the peace of mind alone. There have been several times that I needed help and just knowing who to call is a tremendous relief.
