AAA will make hotel reservations from the road!

We have a AAA membership and I just called to see if they will help us make reservations while we're driving down. I am traveling from SE PA and I want to try to make it to GA the first day, although DH think I am crazy with 2 young boys AAA will be able to help me find a hotel as we drive so we'll have a good idea of how far we can go that day. He said they will also be able to compare prices at the hotels. I think this will make my trip down much more relaxing...at least I can hope! Hope this helps!

Thats good news, AAA is very helpful in many ways, remember don't leave home without it.

I would still go to your local office and pickup the tourbooks. They are free, and you can read them in the car. If you have time, go to AAA.com and they will ship them to your house. FREE.

But back in the day of our driving trips, we always got their trip tik and motel/hotel books for the states we'd be traveling thru and guesstimate where we would be at certain mile points and look up the rooms in those areas, make notes and sometimes reserve a couple. We then saw how the trip was progressing, either kept going or just plain stopped for the night. I know from paast experiences, without reservations and looking for a clean good room, close to the Interstate around 8 or 9 pm was a total loss, nothing left but crap motels and driving to the next exit might be many miles down the road. I'd look arounsd the 600 mile exits, easy to figure with the trip tik and see whats on the exits before and after and reserve them. I guess if you list the motels, exits, miles and phone numbers, you can call ahead, via cell phone, an hour before getting there and see what's available. The guide books give prices, amenities and alittle map.

We have the print outs from the 195 exit guide as a general idea, but I like the idea of driving until 3 pm, calling AAA (they close at 4 on Saturdays) and giving them an estimate of how much longer we want to drive. I like the option of having them be able to quickly see all of our options and prices.
