If I book thru aaa room only, I can save 30 bucks a night at csr. Am I still able to make a room request (or location request) if I book thru aaa? Dont they buy out a bunch of rooms ahead of time or something?

You'll just need to give all your requests to the AAA TA when you book, and trust that TA to pass them along to Disney when they book your room. The TA retains all access to your reservation, and Disney will not speak to you at all until you check in at your resort. There is no reason your TA cannot make your requests for you, so if he/she says otherwise go to a different person.

We book through AAA and make room requests. Never had a problem! Last time we got exactly what we asked for. We're hoping for the same luck this time!

No, it doesn't work that way. Disney allows the discount until the occupancy rate for that room category reaches a certain target level.

You can get an AAA discount without going through a travel agent. I prefer it that way so I'm in control of my reservation. But if you used an agent, yes, you will have to go through him to make any requests.

We always book directly with Disney and just ask for the AAA discout. If it's available that rate is applied - no need to use a AAA agent, unless you want to use a travel agent - and everything else about the booking (requests, etc.) is handled just like any other reservation. We've never had a problem and also like dealing with them directly ourselves.

Yes, it's true that you can book a AAA room only directly thrhoug Disney. However - if you later decide you want to change to a package, but still want the AAA discount on the room, you must book through a AAA TA. Disney can not/will not do a AAA package.
